Until Croatia and Serbia separated, we officially had 1 language - Serbo-Croatian, and when the countries split, the differences which never mattered became important (for political reasons of course) and some new words were invented to make a bigger difference between them..
Small differences that always existed are negligible if you ask me
For example, milk is mleko in Serbian and mlijeko in Croatian, salt is so in Serbian and sol in Croatian ...
So... if you learn one of the languages you will have no problem what so ever with the other language.. I live in Serbia, my ancestors are half /half, I suppose I am Serbian. I speak Serbian but I watch ONLY Croatian tv and of course it's my/our language
thank you!! you are a big help
