hmm doesn't Kafer mean non-believer/sinner and not atheist

I have a question about the word "kafer" what is exactly de meaning in muslim or arab culture, ¿It is insult? ¿when use this word arab speakers?
In spanish we say "cafre", we keep this word from arab language and if you say to some one "cafre" mean "barbar, wild.." but nothing about the religion.

an athiest is a person who doesn't believe in god yani non-believer,
i guess sinner doesn't necessarly mean kafer because you can be a sinner and not a non-believer,i mean you can commit a sin even if you believe in god

kafer mean ,non-believer,athiest,a person who doesn't belive in god,i mean a person who can do whataver he likes without considering the consequences,
for muslims ,it's the same we use it to indicate curelity,a person you cannot control what he's doing,he's hurting everybody with his actions,wild as you said,it can be considered too as an insult,

Atheists aren't the only ones who don't believe in a God.. you have those people who worship the devil or like "witchcraft" Pagans.. Scientology.. 5%ers.. Buddhism.. the list goes on and on..

I agree with you on the sinner comment, but when I said it I was thinking along the lines of major sins.. anyhow that was a good call
