Värsta Schlagern
A Damn Good Schlager
Det börjar bra, nästan intressant
Ja, ja, men kanske lite väl bekant
It starts off well, almost interesting
Yes, yes, but maybe a tad familiar
We're building up to the bridge, my friend
But it's not here just yet
'Cause we have another half a verse to get through
A repetition we usually do
We're building up to the bridge again
And here it finally comes
The excitement rises towards the point of the song
A really phat chorus:
And there's love and there's wind
There're eyes and they're sparkling
And lots of other tired old cliches
That say everything and nothing
There are stars and they're shining
There's the world and it's disappearing
And the title should be like a punch to the stomach
That's a damn good schlager.
Nu blir det svårt att komma på
- Nåt nytt att säga, men så vaddå
Det här är ändå bara transport
som folk snart glömmer bort
För det som belönas med 12 poäng
Är en fläskig refräng:
It'll be difficult, now, to come up with
Something new to say, but who cares
This just transport, after all
Which people will soon forget
For the thing that is rewarded with 12 points
Is a really phat chorus:
And there's love and there's wind
There're eyes and they're sparkling
And lots of other tired old cliches
That say everything and nothing
There are stars and they're shining
There's the world and it's disappearing
And the title should be like a punch to the stomach
That's a damn good schlager.
If you don't want to spoil your chances of winning
You can steal something from ABBA and watch the risk disappear
So everybody hold on to your hats
Here comes the key change finallyyyyy
And there's love and there's wind
There're eyes and they're sparkling
And lots of other tired old cliches
That say everything and nothing
There are stars and they're shining
There's the world and it's disappearing
And the title should be like a punch to the stomach
That's a damn good schlaaa-aaager.
I don't know how familiar you are with the Eurovision Song Contest - if you listen to this kind of music you should be, but since you're Mexican, I thought I'd explain some of the references, just in case. The songs in this contest have traditionally followed the formula described and used in this song (double verse - chorus - verse - chorus - middle eight & key change - chorus), the maximum ammount of points given is 12, and the Swedish songs are routinely (and often accurately) accused of stealing elements from various ABBA songs. The lyrics are usually not very profound or innovative, either
