I heard this song in a Portland club called "Embers" on a Wednesday night in June 2008. It's their alternative/goth/industrial/ebm night and they are notorious for changing DJs frequently so I have not been able to get a playlist.
In any case, I have this song in my head but no lyrics, so this may be hard.
It's a male voice and he whispers throughout the entire song. It's kind of an angsty, loud whisper -- but still whispering. The people on the dance floor seemed very familiar with it knowing exactly where the pause was, where to clap, where to stomp, etc. I had never heard it before and I have lived all over the country and been to numerous nightclubs without ever hearing it.

Does anyone have any idea what song I could be talking about?

The song may be PNEUMATIC DETACH song called Embers off of the album VISCERA

xotox has a lot of loud, harsh whispering throughout its songs. was the whispering in english?

Another one who uses to whisper the lyrics is 'Asphyxia' but as far as I know his songs are not played everywhere.
