BARIS AKARSU was mentioned prominently in a "LISTENERD" article because "Islak, Islak" was the 4th most commented on video at the time (August 24, 2007, less than 2 months after his death). Again, I am promoting BARIS AKARSU, rather than myself. After reading the article or blog, I had to write to LISTENERD to explain who BARIS AKARSU was, how he affected generations of people, and why so many people commented on his video (below the article). At least BARIS has supporters around the world, still listening to him, still talking about him, still caring about him and loving him . . .

Thank you, Beso, for reading the poems for BARIS. I am glad that you liked them; the inspiration for them is, of course, BARIS AKARSU. I am so glad I came to know him, even though it was after his death, through his music, his art, and from others around the world sharing about him. What a marvelous person. . . . And you--you are very kind to have read and acknowledged the poems. My appreciation.

Yes, Beso, those whom BARIS AKARSU affected in such an intimate manner became known as B.A.G. (described earlier in this thread). This was his soul and his nature and talent. Like you, I am always so happy to find someone who feels the same. I'm from Kentucky, U.S.A., and I know no one personally here who has these feelings for BARIS. I even watch "Yalanci Yarim" over and over; although yesterday when I watched Episode #13 (full version) I couldn't understand but one or two words. Usually the great acting and interesting series communicates the plot well. . . . But I'm sad that I'm losing the small amount of Turkish I did learn. (Not as in touch with Turkish B.A.G. as much as I used to be! :l )

I discovered that BARIS AKARSU, in addition to being a wonderful performer and person, was a deep thinker. That he, of course, was a great lover of all people. It would mean so much to me if anyone knows some of the deep, wise comments he made, to please post them in Turkish, then in English.

I would be so grateful, because this is something about BARIS that I cannot seek out on my own.

Default Thank you, muge, for Turkish, English translation, and Black Sea explanation!

This is just the beginning of this beautiful video about BARIS AKARSU'S life, talent, personality, and career. (RIP) Thanks to muge for the following Turkish then English translation of this video beginning, and for the appropos description of the Black Sea and its name:

En çok sevdiğimiz insan kendimize benzettiğimiz insandır...
Denizden gelip yıldızlara uzanan bir yolculuğun öyküsü...
    Amasra'nın hırçın dalgasına...

The person we love the most is the person we think is us alike ...
A journey starting from the sea and reaching for the stars...
(Dedicated) to the strong wave of Amasra... (You know, Black Sea. Hırçın actually means aggressive, but it sounds weird. Black Sea is a different sea, one moment it's super calm and in 1 second it can be super wavy and strong and stubborn. Many people die there if they aren't careful.)

    Cok sagol, muge . . .
