Solved: Looking for the name of some cowboy-song

I can't remember the name of the song, or even a full sentence to search the lyrics data base. but I do remember the story:

The guy who sings, the story teller, is a sheriff or something, and he find a wounded man from gun shots, and save him. he's taking the man to his home, taking care of him. after that the cowboy got well, he practiced all the time with a gun. after that he left the city, he turned to be some famous outlaw. the sheriff one day goes to catch him, and than they have a dual, only the two of them, the cowboy shot at the sheriff's gun, and left the place saying something like "were even", after a while the sheriff catch him and kill him, everyone is happy, but the sheriff is the only one that shed a tear for him.

Sounds familiar? I think the name of the song is the name of the cowboy or something..
