Dear friends,
Finally I have found the courage to expose to you the translation that I have made in English and Italian of a classic and traditional Greek song that I like very much, and for sure all of you Greeks know... I have been worked on it for weeks, even before registering into this forum, and now I think I have reached the goal to complete my translation... The song that I'm talkin about is the magnificent "Νύχτωσε χωρίς φεγγάρι"... I have tried hard to make a suitable translation in English and Italian and this is the result... please take a look and be very clement with me my friends !!!

"A night without moon has started,
the darkness is so deep,
but anyway there is a young boy,
that is not able to fall asleep...
but anyway there is a young boy,
that is not able to fall asleep...

I'm curious to know what is he expecting
(waiting) from the dusk until the dawn,
nearby that narrow window,
that receives the light only from a candle,
nearby that narrow window,
that receives the light only from a candle...

He opens and closes the door
with a heavy breath and sighs...
how I wish to guess
what is the pain that hurts in his heart..."

---------------------------

"E'iniziata una nottata senza luna
l'oscurita' e' cosi' profonda...
ma nonostante questo c'e' un giovane ragazzo
che non riesce ad addormentarsi...
ma nonostante questo c'e' un giovane ragazzo
che non riesce ad addormentarsi...

Sarei curioso di sapere cosa stia aspettando
dal tramonto fino all'alba,
vicino a quella angusta finestra
che riceve la luce soltanto da una candela...
vicino a quella angusta finestra
che riceve la luce soltanto da una candela...

Lui apre e chiude la porta,
con un grande sospiro, e singhiozza...
Quanto io vorrei tentare di indovinare
quale sia il dolore che lo tormenta nel cuore..."

PS: I noticed that on youtube there are various interpretations of this classic so I was undecided about the one that was the best to put on this thread !!!!
