Ik en jane hebben zondag om 8 uur ‘s avonds naar james may’s toys stories gekeken. James May probeert 'ouderwets' speelgoed aantrekkelijk te maken voor kinderen van nu.Hij wilt de grootste Scalextric-baan ooit maken. De baan moet minstens vijf kilometer lang worden en aangelegd worden langs het circuit van Brooklands, het oudste van Groot-Brittannië. Daarvoor zullen de Scalextric-experts tuinen moeten doorkruisen en vijvers en rivieren overbruggen.Eerst kregen we de history van Scalextric te zien. We zien daar de evolutie van de speelgoedauto’s. Daarna gaven ze informatie over de scalestric. Bijvoorbeeld een raceautootje met magneet gaat trager dan een auto zonder magneet. Maar het beste is dat het autootje wel een magneet heeft, omdat het stabieler is. James onderzoekt *** mensen het zouden vinden, als er een miniracebaan voor hun tuinen zal voorbijrijden. Iedereen was natuurlijk enthousiast. Ze hielpen met de racebaan te bouwen van meer dan 5 km. Ze kwamen zelfs supporteren! Natuurlijk waren er problemen tijdens het bouwen van de racebaan. Het opstellen van de racebaan duurde ongeveer 10 uur. Maar het is het allemaal waard geweest. Er was een zilveren team en een rode team. De racebaan was klaar voor de start. Ready set go!!! In het begin nam de rode auto voorsprong, maar crashte. Dus daarom ging de zilveren Mercedes voor. Uiteindelijk crashte de Mercedes ook. En won de rode Astron martin D89. De wereldrecord werd gebroken. Wat ik leuk vond was dat de rode auto midden in de vijver stopte, en toch niet van de baan ging. Niemand durfde het water in. Ze namen zelf een extra een kano. Het viel me op dat vele Engelsen niet kunnen zwemmen. Het was heel interessant, maar heel moeilijk om te kunnen volgen.

We wisten niet wat scalextric betekende. Maar ze gaven ons toen wat uitleg. Zoals de snelheid van de auto’s. Het verschil tussen een auto met magneet, en zondermagneet was dat zonder magneet sneller ging. Maar met magneet was het 3 keer meer stabieler. James begint een onderzoek te starten *** mensen het zouden vinden als er een miniracebaan voor hun tuin zal voorberijden. De meeste gingen er mee akkoord en ze gingen zelfs helpen om de racebaan op te stellen. Er waren problemen tijdens het bouwen van de racebaan. Maar ze hebben uiteindelijk alles kunnen regelen. De race kon beginnen. De rode auto nam voorsprong, maar crashte. Daarom haalde de zilveren Mercedes, de rode astron martin D89 in. Uiteindelijk crashte de Mercedes ook, waardoor de rode astron martin D89 won. Met deze scalextric race werd de wereldrecord verbroken. Wat ik ook grappig vond was dat James het water uit ging,en dat er gaten in zijn broek zat. Het was net of hij plaste. Vele Engelsen durven het water niet in. Ik zou ook graag willen meegeholpen hebben om zo’n racebaan op te stellen. En natuurlijk mee racen. ik zou graag met een echte raceauto rijden ipv een speelgoedauto en daarmee sommigen leerkrachten omverrijden.

Jane and I watched James May’s Toys Stories last Sunday around 8 ‘o clock in the evening. James May tries to make old-fashioned toys attractive to children of this generation. He wants to make the biggest Scalextric-track ever. The track should be at least five kilometers long and situated along the circuit of Brooklands, the oldest of Great-Britain. In order to do so, Scalextric-experts have to cross gardens, ponds and rivers. At first we were showed the history of Scalextrc. What we saw was the evolution of toy cars. After that, we received information about the Scalextric. For example: a racecar with magnets move slower than a car without magnets. It’s best for a car to have magnets, though, because it is more stable. James investigates how people would like it if there would be a mini-racetrack in front of their gardens. Of course everybody was enthused about the idea. They helped to build the racetrack of over 5 kilometers long. They even came to support! Of course, there were problems during the building of the racetrack. It took about 10 hours to set the track up. It was all worth it, though. There was a silver team and a red team. The racetrack was ready. Ready set go!!! At First the red car was ahead, but it crashed. That’s why the silver Mercedes took the lead. In the end the Mercedes crashed as well. The red Astron Martin D89 won. The World record was broken. What I liked, was that the red car stopped in the middle of the pond, but never went off track. Nobody dared to go into the water. They even took an extra canoe. It noticed that a lot of English people can’t swim. It was very interesting, but it was hard to keep up with it and understand everything.

Sunday around 8 at night I watched James May’s Toys Stories with ipek. In the show old-fashioned toys were made more attractive for kids of this generation. He wants to make the Scalextric track, which should be at least 5 kilometers long. The biggest track ever. It had to be situated along the circuit of Brooklands, the oldest of Great-Britain. To make the Scalextric-track, they had to cross ponds and rivers. In the introduction the history of the Scalextric was shown. We didn’t know what Scalextrc meant, but they gave us an explanation. For example: the speed of cars. The difference between cars with a magnet en cars without a magnet is that those without move faster. The cars with a magnet, though, are three times more stable. James starts an investigation, to see what people would think if there would be a mini-racetrack in front of their gardens. Most of the people agreed with the idea and they even helped to set up the track. There were problems during the building of the racetrack. But eventually they took care of everything. The race could get started. The red car took the lead, but it crashed. That’s why the silver Mercedes overhauled the red Atron Martin D89. In the end, the Mercedes crashed as well and the red Astron Martin D89 won. With this Scalextic race, the world record was broken. What I thought was funny, was when James got out of the water and there were holes in his pants. Is was as if he was peeing. A lot of English people are afraid to get into the water. I would love to have helped to set up a racetrack like that. And take part in the race, of course. I would like to drive with a real racecar, instead of a toy car and I would like to run over some teachers.
