Hi Macbard, SCHAFFEN means to manage something, to work it out

In southern Germany SCHAFFEN means also TO WORK

But in this song I a m pretty sure that SCHAFFEN means also TO WORK / TO WORK TOGETHER

The singer is from the Netherlands, maybe the song is also from dutch origin and they have used dutch word and have them translated directly into german.

thanks for the help. I didn't know they were from the Netherlands. When I first heard this song the artist name was labeled wrong. I didn't see that it was corrected until I looked for the link. I think it makes a good drinking song and very catchy too. LOL

I like this song very much. But it seems to me, that it is not typical or original German. It reminds me of Irish folk music.

interesting song history. Though it may not be an originally German song I like it and it is the song that started me looking further into the German music I love so much and so the Bots version is special to me. Thank you for the additional information and links. I found them quite interesting.
