    Default Mustafa Ceceli - Bekle

    Bekle dönüşü vardır zor sürgünlerinde
    Bekle hatırla bizi dar günlerinde
Telli turnalar gibi, çifte kumrular gibi
    Sarışıp bir sedir ağacı gölgesinde
    Baharı selamlayıp, iki çift kelamlayıp
    Gamsız günler gecelerdim elinde
    Biz gülleri severdik, dikenleriyle
    Koklardık kanayana dek ellerimiz
    Gül dikensiz olur mu? Ahetmezdik
    Bekle, bekle hiç pesedermiyiz
Bir nasihat gibi bu sancılı hasret
    Miyadını doldurup biter birgün
    Karanlık aydılığa kavuşur elbet
    Siz ogün bayramı kutlamayı görün
    Bekle sıcacık bir Haziran
    Bekle ısıtıp sol yanını yatağında

The hours of pain have yielded good,
    Which prosperous days refused;
As herbs, though scentless when entire,
    Spread fragrance when they’re bruised.

    Bekle dönüşü vardır zor sürgünlerinde
Hold on, there exists a return even for thoughest exiLes

    Bekle hatırla bizi dar günlerinde
Hold on, Remember us in your days of difficuLty

Telli turnalar gibi, çifte kumrular gibi
Like demoiseLLe cranes, Like a coupLe in Love

*Like anthropoides virgo , Like a streptopelia decaocto coupLe
*teLLi turna: demoiseLLe cranes, anthropoides virgo (bird)
    *kumru: brown pigeon, streptopelia decaocto

    Sarışıp bir sedir ağacı gölgesinde
Wrapped under the shadow of a cedar tree

    Baharı selamlayıp, iki çift kelamlayıp
SaLuting the Spring, uttering a coupLe of words

    Gamsız günler gecelerdim elinde
I used to spend nights in your hand, days without sorrow...

    Biz gülleri severdik, dikenleriyle
We used to Love Roses, with their Thorns

    Koklardık kanayana dek ellerimiz
We used to smeLL (Roses), tiLL our hands bLeeded

Gül dikensiz olur mu? Ah etmezdik
Can rose be without a thorn? We wouldn't damn it

Bekle, bekle hiç pes eder miyiz
HoLd on, wait! do we ever surrender?

Bir nasihat gibi bu sancılı hasret
Like an advice, That painfuL Longing

    Miadını doldurup biter birgün
wiLL expire and end one day

    Karanlık aydınlığa kavuşur elbet
Darkness wiLL rejoin its Luminousness for sure

Siz o gün bayramı kutlamayı görün
(and) See (how) the ceLebration of Bayram (wiLL be) that day

    Bekle sıcacık bir Haziran
    Wait for a warmy June

    Bekle ısıtıp sol yanını yatağında
Warm up the left side of the bed and Wait

It's a wonderful song! Although I don't speak Turkish I managed to learn how to sing it and now I take a lot of pleasure in singing it along with Mustafa. The lyrics are very poetic but that I guess this is Sezen Aksu's trademark. Anyway, thanks a lot for translating it! Polonya'dan selamlar!

    You're 100% right.

It always amazes me how many fantastic songs she has composed during her career as singer/songwriter.

Not only for herself but also for so many other artists, just like Mustafa here.

Have you heard "Unut" for example? It's one of those songs I'd take to a desert island. Also "Gidemem" is a very, very, very special song to me but I prefer it sung by Ferhat Gocer - he's a wonderful artist, too!

Don't think it's possible, even if you listened to a couple of songs a day :-)
There would still be next to come...
    Bests!

As this song is growing more and more popular, I feel obliged to make few corrections on the lyrics and hope that selim will show up and make the necessary changes in his translation:

    ...
    "Gamsız günler geceler demlerinde"
    ...
"Bekle, sıcacık bir haziran sabahında "

    Hey SiLvEr_MooN,

Thanks for the correction of Lyrics...

I have translated it when Sohuda asked for the second time and like many lyrics I had translated I have no idea what the song looks like.

If I add these two Lines I will start from the beginning and if I try to set up rhyme it will be a burden for me... and what's more it may be worse...
    By the way
Siz o gün bayramı kutlamayı görün
(and) See (how) the ceLebration of Bayram (wiLL be) that day
    shouldn't have been translated Literally.
Here Bayram stands for the day of enjoyment where all sufferings come to an end. Well, it may be hard to find an equivalent word or words, in that case, I should have put a note for the reader. HOWEVER done is done.

so, please do me and the readers a favor and tanslate the two lines or more if you find it necessary...

    see you

Okay selim, I see. Then, here is my attempt for these two lines:

    Hold on
    ....
At times of untroubled days and nights (Gamsız günler geceler demlerinde)
    ....
Hold on, on a pleasantly-warm June morning (Bekle sıcacık bir Haziran)
