Default Solved: After name of song first heard from mid 2009 onwards,

    I don't know any of the lyrics but I can give a good description;

    First heard on heart radio.

Has a bleepy melody, a little like Fireflies by Owl City but sang by a woman who to me sounds a little like Dido.

Heard snips of it on radio adverts and a snip today on a c4 advert, but can never make out any lyrics to narrow it down.

I searched the charts and tried auto finder sites with no luck.

Nah it's a bit more techno'ish and upbeat then enya, it's more of a mainstreamy pop song I believe, not new age.

It's also a very new song, can't be more than a couple of years old, if that. might even be only a couple of months old.

I know every enya song as I heard one when I was a baby that stuck with me so hard I had to rifle through all her songs to find it many years later. (Carribean Blue)

She sorta sings, pauses, goes up down a bleep scale, she sings again, etc...

    Thanks for trying.

    Nope, cool artist though.

Song is still a bit more techno'y and upbeat then a lot of her stuff, more mainstream too, I prob go get a keyboard and a synthesizer and play out the melody as a last resort.

I don't know if this well help or make it worse but it sounds a tiny bit like Florence and The Machine - Cosmic Love, if you turn her loud singing down to really quiet almost whisper, and take out the banging and din, theres a background synthesizer in that track you can just make out which is just like whats played through more prominently on the track im looking for.

    No sadly, but good guess.

Getting warmer, similar tempo, and backing vocals arent a million miles away if you change them for electronics.

Song I'm after contains no backing vocals that I rememeber, just a sole female singer.

It's annoying as I'm sure it was such a mainstream song at one point, caught it on commericial radio twice, once just a couple of weeks ago, and snips have been used on adverts.

    Gargh.

I think some of you are digging too deep as if it's on youtube as I bet it is, I imagine it's the sort of song that'll have hundreds of thousands of not views into the millions. Rather then 5-10,000.

    Here's my second guess:

    "Daniel" by Bat For Lashes

    Nope sorry.

I've uploaded the basic jist of the vocals part played very basically on a guitar, the gain is pretty low so you might need to up volume a bit.

I listened to your recording and didn't recognize the song. If anything, the plinky guitar notes made me think of "She Will Be Loved" by Maroon 5. So, I just decided to listen to a bunch of music that was released in 2009 and make my best guess. Here it is:

    "Happy Up Here" by Royksopp

    Nope.

But you're getting closer and by a stroke of luck so am I.

Does anyone here listen to UK's Heart Radio top 40 show?

Their advert for it has snips of tracks and it's on there.

I was driving my car but I think caught some of the lyrics.

    Sounded like

"I don't know what life is for"

    or maybe

"I don't know what love is for"

    something like that.

The annoying thing is, heart doesn't say the band singer.

Plays a few says their artist name, and then just says "and many more" for playing it.

    OMG I found it!

    Wonderful!!!

Can't believe I overlooked her. It was Lily Allen, how obvious is that?

I'd actually looked at the song before but I only played it for 5 seconds since I had so many to go through, so I didn't realise.

You have to wait to 40 seconds for it to kick in.

    Lily Allen - The Fear

*listens* Ahhhh blisss, songs sound so much better when they've played hard to got, giving me goosebumps listening.

I completely agree with the sentiments expressed in the lyrics too, satire of modern life.
