Tough one, artist and lyrics to a not well known song

Hello, I can't get this song out of my head for some reason, although I haven't heard it since '05! The sad part is I know a chunk of the chorus, and a chunk of lyrics to another of the artist's songs, BUT extensive googling has come up with nothing. Here goes for the song in question:

Male singer, acoustic guitar, no or VERY few drums, slower style deep thought song.
Lyrics in the chorus go something like this: I'll drive three times my weight in, gasoline, just to be, with you tonight.

He also has a song on the CD in which he is riding around with Einstein's brain and having conversations with it, that one is more uppety and goofy, but not the Earle song.

Yah, I don't know, like I said it's been since '05, but every now and then it pops into my head and I can't get it out of there for the next 4 months...
