    Hello
Posted for corrections Thanks Inaissa & Ray Alpha
To listen YouTube - Die Streuner - Wein, Weib und Gesang

Die Streuner - Wein, Weib und Gesang
    Wine, woman and song

    [Refrain]
    Wein, Weib und Gesang
Und das ganze ein Leben lang
    Wenn das nicht mehr wär
    Ich armer Tor
Dann wär mir Angst und Bang
Ja dann wär mir Angst und Bang

    Wine, woman and song
and all of that a life long
If this no longer would be,
    me poor fool
    would be very worried,
    yes very worried.

    Schlaget an das erste Faß
Denn der Wein schlichtet größten Haß
    Er benebelt die Sinne
    Und schlägt auf die Stimme
Aus jedem Tenor wird ein Baß

    Break open the first barrel
because the wine calms the greatest hatred
    It befuddles the senses
    And smites the voice
    Each tenor becomes a bass.

    [Refrain]

    Mannen hebet an den Kilt
Für die Weiber ein lustiges Bild
    Doch wer sich nicht traut
Weil er klein ist lieber schaut
    Verstecke sich hinter sein Schild

    Men lift up the kilt,
for the women an amusing picture.
    Yet, whoever does not dare
because he is small rather watches,
    cowering behind his shield.

    [Refrain]

Women unbutton your shirt but quickly,
    Because we men love boobs
If the shirt remains (buttoned) up to the top
you get no man to romp
If you do it, however, there is howling and barking.

    [Refrain]

Ja das Lied hat mir Spaß gemacht
Doch ich seh es hat nichts gebracht
Drum pack ich die Laute und spiel andern Leuten
    Meine ganze Liederpracht

Yes, the song has amused me,
however, I see it has brought nothing.
For this reason I pack up the lute and play for other people
    my whole repertoire of songs
    .

    [Refrain]

    Hello,

    my suggestions

    Wenn das nicht mehr wär
    Ich armer Tor

    Wär=conjunctive

If this no longer would be,
    me poor fool
    would be very worried,
    yes very worried.

Worried to death ist to strong, i think. It istn meant this way in this funny song. I would leave out the death in here.

Denn wir Mannen lieben Blusen ohne "l"*

    "Blusen"=eng. "blouses"
    witout "l"=

    "Busen" = eng. "bosom"

    means all men like boobies.

Just for explanation, i have no idea of translating this phrase,
perhaps "Since we men love blossom without "l".

    Hi Inaissa & Ray Alpha,

thank you both for your help. An amusing song indeed.

Und das ganze ein Leben lang
and that a whole life long(1)

    1. >> and the whole lifelong
As you may have noticed my German is somewhat lacking but what happens to the ein in your translation? I thought the das refers back to the first line.

I knew the destination, just the route confused me. Never looked that word up before, something new learned. You are more clever than I am. Once you pointed it out, it seems obvious.

    "Das ganze" refers back to "Wein, Weib und Gesang", so the line translates correctly to;

and all of that (/a whole of that) a life long.

No question of cleverness, but being a native German speaker, this is quite obvious and beside this, it is quite an old joke. Dont forget, i am translating the other way round.

    Hi Macbard,

My mistake!! I am a German, I speak English because I have to.
I forgot to place a comma after "the whole" and write an "a" vor "lifelong".
    >>and the whole, a lifelong<<
    >>and the whole-wine, woman and song- a lifelong or>> and that "all in all", a lifelong
    I am very sorry.!!!
