    Hello
Posted for corrections Thanks Ray Alpha & Inaissa
    Sorry no link to listen

    Kira - Mitten im Eis
    In the middle of ice

Tomorrow half a year is past
I have not gotten used to it yet
In the morning at breakfast I still set for two

And I feel like a demolished house
Everything is gone, only in the cellar does light still burn
    The prospects look sad

Was glaubst Du wie mich friert

I am half of nothing really and in the middle of ice
I am half of nothing really and in the middle of ice
    Completely wrong here, completely isolated
What do you believe as I freeze
I am half of nothing really and in the middle of ice

My calendar counts off the seconds
I am numbed and everything waits for you
Because I have changed nothing here yet

Was glaubst du wie mich friert

Am I half of nothing really and in the middle of ice
I am half of nothing really and in the middle of ice
    totally wrong here, completely isolated
What you believe, how (you believe) freezes me
I am half of nothing really
In the middle of ice, I lie in the middle of ice

    Nearly completely perfect, small correction:

I am half of totally nothing and in the middle of ice

    sounds better for me.

This doesn't sound quite normal to me.

    What about:
I am half of nothing really and in the middle of ice.
or I am half of precisely nothing and in the middle of ice.
or I am half of absolutely nothing and in the middle of ice.

"nothing really" sounds the best to me. I can hear someone saying it so sadly and it seems to match the mood of the song. She sings it sadly with a pause between "Ich bin die Hälfte" and "von gar nichts". What do you think? I value your opinion.

I think, this translations get the point. "Gar" is an enhancement to "nichts", so really nothing is a good choice.

Every translation is a form of interpretation, so if you feel, that this variant meets the spirit of the song, than this is a good translation.

    Hi Macbard&Ray Alpha

    How about:
"ich bin die Hälfte von gar nichts">> I am the half of nothing.....
    " gar nicht" <> not at all<>nothing at all<>

1.>>"Völlig verkehrt hier, völlig isoliert"<< I am totally wrong here....
    >>"verkehrt" put something on >> "vekehrt herum" >> the wrong way
Verkehren( perf. has/ist verkehrt ) "vekehren" with somebody< associate with somebody

2.>> "Alles abgegrast,.....">< all is grazed up> it is a slang, it means: >>everything is gone<>is cleaned up<> is nothing there

    3.>>"Ich bin erstarrt ........" it means>> I got dumbed

You can also "erstarren" ( perf. ist erstarrt ) when you get a fright or in front of something horrible. You can't move, you freeze.

    I hope I helped

    Hello Inaissa,

    Thanks for your insights.
More things learned, now if I can just remember when needed.

I don't know if you saw it before I changed it. I originally had "nothing at all". It seems to call for more than "nothing". All the words considered convey the same idea. To me the wording now, seems to fit the mood and sounds more normal than anything else so I think I'll leave for the time being.

I did not pay much attention to the correction Ray Alpha helped you with. I was just a little joking and gave you one more example. I'm sorry if I confused you.
When you are satisfied with your translation then "the job is well done".
I totally agree with Ray Alpha in the point that:
Every translation is a form of interpretation, so if you feel, that this variant meets the spirit of the song, than this is a good translation.
When you understand the meaning in a foreign language "you've got it made".
