Ok, I have some questions, so thanks for being so open!

1. So угасить must come from гасить, but I don't get the difference between their meanings. And why is гасить imperfective but угасить is perfective?

2. Can you explain to me how you use стал? Or give me a link that explains it well?

3. What's the infinitive that явим comes from?

1. I am not 100% sure, but I think y- indicates that the action is finished. For a simpler comparison:

улетать: Он улетел вчера в Австралию (He flew to Australia yesterday)

летать: 20% людей боятся летать на самолётах. (20% of the people are afraid to fly)

3. the word comes from являть , I don't know if you use this dictionary http://www.rambler.ru/dict/, you can type in the word in whichever form, in whatever case and it will give you the root of a noun / infinitive of a verb. Then copy it (the word in green) type that word in to see what it means.

2. стал in most cases means either started to do something or became something.

Я хотел помогать людям поэтому я стал доктором. I wanted to help people, that's why I became a doctor.

Он стал читать, потому что он хотел был умным. He started reading (or to read), because he wanted to be smart.

I think you're totally right for the first question, it makes much more sense now!

1) The common perfective form for гасить is погасить. Угасить sounds more poetic but is synonymic to погасить.
2) Yep, стать means 'to start to do something' when used together with imperfect infinitive, but per se means 'to become' (namely 'to start being' with 'to be' ommited).
