    Default Solved: really hard request

    hi!

i'm looking for a song. i know almost nothing about it, beside few facts:
    1. it's in english
    2. it's a song of 80's or early 90's (it was very popular in radio and TV at those times in Poland)
    3. there was a video clip. as i remember, the singer was a white male with a afro-like hair cut and he had a diamond (or maybe golden? silver?) tooth. he was siting in the rollercoaster and singing (camera in front of him). at least it was like that during the rerfain.
    4. all the song was quite calm, but during refrain it was becoming more powerful, and little crazy (and roolercoaster was also during the fast down ride).
    5. lyrics of the refrain. i was a kid those days and my english was even worse then now, so it's possible that words were totally different but i remember it like this: "and i love the phone when it's [one short monosyllabic word] to you" some text after this, and the end or the refrain: "...it's a real, real life! shine [<<shine>> is perhaps not a correct word, but it was something simillar] 'n'cool".

if you have any idea what was that song please help me!

    thanks!

    Perfect description!
That could fit on Willy De Ville (+ in 2009, R.I.P.!) and his band Mink De Ville.

hmm... no i don't think it's him rather not...

i think that artist was younger. about 25-35 at the clip.

and the music is different. the song i'm looking for is kind of... i don't know how to call it, but definitely not latino-like music. it was more like funk...

but thanks write some more if you have any other ideas

Sounds a little to me like 'Jay Kay' of Jamiroquai.. he's jazzy funk also. He started in 1992.

He's not got an afro, but it reminds me of Simply Red - Fairground

Willy De Ville sadly passed away in 2009, and could not even celebrate his 59th birthday anymore; he was born in 1950, and indeed was 35 at those mid-1980s Mink De Ville clips.

But I think Mumbles definitely nailed it: there are not too many clips with rollercoasters involved! Bravo!

And "love the phone" is "love the thought". So I can stop racking my brains. Cool.

Munbles is right. It's definetly Simply Red - Fairground. Everything you said is on this clip

You missunderstood the lyrics, it says: And I love the thought

    Fairground - Simply Red
    Composição: Mick Hucknall

    Driving down an endless road
    Taking friends or moving alone
Pleasure at the fairground on the way

It's always friends that feel so good
Let's make amends like all good men should
Pleasure at the fairground on the way

Walk around be free and roam
    There's always someone leaving alone
Pleasure at the fairground on the way

And I love the thought of coming home to you
Even if I know we can't make it
And I love the thought of giving hope to you
Just a little ray of light shining through

Love can bend and breathe alone
Until the end it finds you a home
Don't care what the people may say

It's always friends that feel so good
Let's make amends like all good men should
Pleasure at the fairground on the way

And I love the thought of coming home to you
Even if I know we can't make it
And I love the thought of giving hope to you
Just a little ray of light shining through
