    The Dispute (story)

Once in heaven a dispute arose among Devtas (good deities) and ASURS (demons) that who among them was the best. The Devtas recounted many incidents from the past when they had defeated the demons. And so did the demons. As a result both sides could not reach any conclusion.
In the end it was decided that Lord Vishnu should be allowed to take the decision. Both the sides reached Lord Vishnu’s court. Lord Vishnu listened to both the sides and said “If I take a decision without giving both of you a fair chance to prove yourselves…Then it may not help to resolve the dispute. So let’s have a competition. The result of the competition will solve the issue.
Both Sides agreed. Lord Vishnu ordered huge plates of Laddus ( a type of sweet) and organized them in ques. The competition was that they had to eat as many sweets as possible in a given time and whoever ate the most would be the winner. But there was a condition spoons with long stalks will not be in their hands but tied with your elbows instead.
First it was the turn of ASURS (Demons). Long spoons tied with their elbows had made their arms immovable. Hence they could not bend their arms towards their mouths. Sensing that that their arms will not bend they fell upon sweets like a beast and tried to devour them with mouth. But they could not do much and time was up.
Now it was Devtas (good deities) turn. They pondered over the situation. They knew that if they behaved the same way as demons did they will have the same poor result. Hence when they sat in queues they sat one facing the other. And Instead of putting the laddu in their mouth they lifted it with spoons and put it in the mouth of their companion facing them. As a result they were able to eat all the sweets in given time and emerged victorious.
The demons were shocked. Seeing this lord Vishnu smiled and said “ You know why Devtas won? It was because instead of being selfish and eating everything alone they cared about each other. “
The Demons hung their heads in shame and left the place. And the dispute was resolved forever

This is the difference between good and bad people. A self centered person thinks about his own welfare only but a better person is the one and who thinks about the welfare of others too and then takes the decision accordingly.

    A thought

In a great action men show themselves as they ought to be. In a small action as they are.

    Good morning

    Aghani=songs (sing: oghneya)

Nojoum w aghani= stars and songs

Ana mesh malak=I'm not an angel
    ملك (malak)=angel
    مالك (maalek)=owner
... however the vowels may change as you know, so I guess that depending on the context it could be what you suggested -although if it's from a love song I should think it's more likely to be 'angel'

    Hi citlalli
Thanks ... or should I say Double Thanks (Poor Joke )

Well I knew that Malik is owner (Same in Hindi too). So Making use of my "LIMITED" Arabic vocabulary I gave it a try . But I guess Angel makes more sense after all we are talking about love and not a Property deal .
Judging by the music of the song it is a sad song but again just a guess

    Hello dear friend

Ahhh, I just saw your other thread yeah, arabic can be tricky in many instances. I noticed that in Amani's song 'malak' is spelled ملاك so I doublechecked:

    مَلاك (malaak)=angel
    مَلّاك (mallaak)=owner

However, the first line of the song goes:

أنا مش ملاك ... أنا إنسانه عاديه
I'm not 'xx'... I'm a normal person. So I think 'angel' fits nicely here: 'I'm not an angel, bla bla bla, I'm just a person/ human!'
