    Default The Falcon (short story)

Once upon a time in Persia there was a king who was very fond of animals. One day a merchant came to his court and presented him with a baby falcon. the merchant claimed that it was a falcon of the finest breeds and people marveled to see it fly. The King Impressed by the merchant instantly bought the bird. As time passed by the chick grew into a big strong Falcon.
But to the kings surprise the falcon never flied. it would sit all day on the branch of a tree and never once did it flutter it's wings. The king was really disheartened to see it.
Noticing the sadness of the king, His wazir (minister) a man known for his intelligence inquired about the cause. He asked the king to give him a chance.
And the next day when the king went to see the falcon it was not there. It was flying high in the sky!!
The king was very happy and and sent for the wazir at once. "How did you do it?" the king asked puzzled.
To this the wazir smiled and replied "My Lord! No doubt the falcon is a strong bird. But sitting all day on the tree branch it never knew it's strength. So I simply cut the branch where it was sitting. Once it's support was gone it had to flutter it's wing. Then the falcon realized the strength of his wings and once it knew that it could fly then there was no looking back.
The king was amazed by wazir's wisdom and he was richly awarded.

Just like the falcon all of us have the capability to touch great heights. But we are unaware of our own strengths. Adversities and difficult times are God's way to make us realize our true potentials and steer us towards greater heights

Nice! I definitely agree that the difficult times we face all happen for a reason and they do show us strength we did not know we had

I know Daydreams already told you bamoot is I die, but I just wanted to add, in songs its normally said as Ana bamoot feek, i.e I love you to death

Also 3ala toul does mean quickly/straight away but its an adjective so you cant really say it alone, typically you would say inti bitrodi 3ala toul (bitrodi = reply)

    p.s liked the story

    Hi Daydream...
To tell you the truth...When I read bemoot I felt it is related to death because in Hindi too maut is death and I have heard Haifa use the word a couple of times.
But when I read the complete sense Ana bamoot feek...Itranslated it like this
I die in you... . Didn't make much sense...so I thought may be I am mistaken.

literally you translated it correct so technically you weren't mistaken
and in dialects it can be pronounced maut as well! I'm surprised how many words are in common, very enlightening!

    Hi Oriee.

Well I was listening to these to songs Nancy Ajram Mashghoul and Touba (Dandanah-2005)

when I heard the 2 words and it struck me that they sound exactly 2 indian words so I thought may be I should check.
Here's one more ..The word Touba (never again) is also used in Hindi but with a slightly different pronunciation Tauba.

You can check the correct pronunciation from these 2 songs.
