Oriee? Well to be honest she's the expert in classical (fus7a) arabic Czarek, but I understood it as flutter
Ooh its my favourite play George
I think that the most important is that you got the idea or the meaning of th phrase... shout or call..
ونادي كانت حول بيوتون حلوي أشجار الرمان
This sentence originally should be.
ونادي كانت حول بيوتون اشجار الرمان، حلوي اشجار الرمان
but so as not to repeat the phrase and be boring, the first اشجار الرمان was dropped.
----------------------------------------------------------
I looked in my dic. and found that نادي has a meaning of ظهر. The dic. says نادي الطريق له: أي ظهر I think this can give us an option of translating the the sentence into show up. I know you might say that this is too much Fus7a, but people uses different words for me it's Fus7a while for others they use it as dialect, for example Syrians & Libanese use word يعيط and they mean to call or to shout, while Palis & Jords use it as to cry.

Oh can I suggest an alternative translation hayati?
And the flutter of the pigeon misses you
I would like to say the last thing regarding رف issue.
In my opinon you can see birds fluttering everywhere, where ever you are,
but you'll miss the groups/ flocks of birds you used to see in your home land, these have a special place in one's memory, alsoo flowers, roses, smells, everything differs, that's why translating رف into flocks will be more reasonable... According to me at least.
