    Default Basic hitchhiking phrases

    Hi everybody!

Would somebody so kind to do me a bit of favor? Next week I’m hitchhiking to Spain from Hungary to a summer university in Barcelona, and I’m sort of stressed about it (and somehow ashamed too) that I absolutely don’t speak French. Would you translate the following for me so that I can have a bit of conversation with those who are kind enough to pick me up? Thanks in advance!

    Hi, my name is…
    Unfortunately I don’t speak French.
Do you speak Spanish/German/English … Hungarian?
    Where are you heading to?
    Where do you come from?
    I’m from…
I’m a law student in Debrecen.
My mother is a teacher (of children), my father has a small enterprise.
(There’ll be a) summer university in Barcelona.
    Petrol station.
    Before (Lyon).
    Very good place to hitchhike.
    I’m very grateful.
    French/Swiss people are really kind.
    Very good, I like it.
