Question Bobby Callender - Story Of Rasha & Dhara

    Hi,

I'd like to know the lyrics of "Story of Rasha & Dhara" by Bobby Callender. The song is on the 1968 album "The Way". I don't think that the lyrics are somwhere on the internet, so I've tried to figure them out. There will be many mistakes and many words are missing:

"John, this is your mother and father, brother and sister.
At first you may find this difficult to conceive,
but in time you will find out for yourself that it is truely so.
And you will also learn to comprehend for yourself [0:58] a bay[?]
symbolized the human soul's desire to be one with the universal soul.
This gentle ever flowing love story has been told to everyone
who truly wishes to find the way.
    Now listen carefully.

In an age where mankind had gone mad and blind,
the story of a man called Rasha and a woman called Dhara took root.
It is said that their love of life inspired all others to follow in their way
and eventually brought bliss and happiness to all the universal landscape.

Rasha is described as being a gentle young man,
dark [1:48] complection[?], long black hair, and brown eyes,
wearing in an ever graceful flow a [1:57] lapnessnissely[???] colored robe.
He goes barefoot altough sometimes sandled.
He is [2:04] puhara[?] and often meditates with Dhara in their mountain ashram.

Throughout the pink city, all around the green sea, and up and down the river Ganges,
Dhara's ever [2:20] all[?] colored eyes are reknown for their beauty and their size,
and though how they sinsulate? at the slightest mention? of Rasha in the blue sky, ??

She was often pictured sitting at his feet,
and he brushing in her ways? long colord hair at the foot of the mango tree
Her skin was as soft and as white as a crystal snowflake as the divine greats??
And in her hair she was wearing flowers of all types,
and she looked very beautiful and vibrant
    in her transparent raitsel??? dress
And in her hand she is picture holding a golden Chrysanthemum,
while in the Mango tree above, a pair of love perries? are singing their song of love.

Their love went beyonds all bonds of love.
They danced on every star on the planet in the universe
and found eternal happiness within nature's roam of bliss.
    And from dawn to sunset,
    from evening time to sunrise,
from the infinite tessemo? to the infinite,
everyone knew Rasha and Dhara's kids.
They became a legend in their own time,
and stories of their love affair
had been written and sung by poets and balladeers, in prose and in rhyme."

So please help me to correct and complete these lyrics. Thank you!

    Hi there,
OK, here it is, did my best trying to understand although couldn't figure all of them out. About the "puhara" name, I think it has something to do with an etnic population in India since "ashram" is a type of hindu yoga and the river Ganges' location is in India. I'm a native Spanish language speaker and we use the word "infinitísimo" sometimes when we refer to quantity (increase). The normal word is "infinito" (infinite) but if we want to increase this term (or maybe exaggerate it) we could use "infinitísimo". So, not sure if this is the term being used in this case but it's the only thing I could understand.

That's it, hope this helps u a bit and good luck on ur quest of finding the rest of the lyrics I couldn't figure out :S .

Thank you! I already assumed that nobody answers ... :-)

I don't understand the following lines:

"And you will also learn to comprehend for yourself.
A day symbolized the human soul's desire to be one with the universal soul."

So you think that these are two sentences, but I think it's just one and makes only sense when "a day" is that what John will learn. But "a day" (as well as "a bay") does not make sense to me.

Perhaps somebody else knows what "Puhara" and "lapnessnissely(???)" mean.

    I think:

Lines 4-5 of the 1st verse:
"And you will also learn to comprehend for yourself
that they symbolise the human soul's desire to be one with the universal soul."
[i.e. John's mother, father, brother, sister - family symbolises the human soul's desire to be one, unified].

Line 3 in the 3rd verse:
"wearing in an ever graceful flow a lapis lazuli colored robe."
[lapis lazuli is a shade of blue, from the mineral of the same name].

    Line 4 in verse 5:
"And her breast was full of love for Rasha of the divine grace."
[I love the way he says this with a quasi-Indian accent].

Line 3 in the final verse:
"and found eternal happiness within nature's realm of bliss."

Line 6 in the final verse:
"From the infinitesimal to the infinite,"
[infinitesimal just means very small or minute].

Line 7 in the final verse:
"everyone knew of Rasha and Dhara's kiss."

I hope this is of help.
As for "puhara", I'm a bit clueless, I thought it might be a name given to a type of ascetic or yogic practitioner, but I can't find anything to back this up.
I am pleased to see this under-valued music getting some attention from someone.

Up to know I didn't know that a new answer has arrived.

@InAtoms: Great! I would like to thank you a lot. Now the whole lyrics makes sense. And I am pleased to be able to grasp this masterpiece of poetry and music.

I wanted to ask where can I find Bobby Callender lyrics online. Thanks a lot.

And an ¨ashram¨ is also a secluded place where yogis practice and meditate and live a life outside of the mess of modern life and ¨civilised¨ society, something like a monastery.
