Yeah, kicking me down is like saying someone is being pushed aroun or insulted, and he is trying to stand up to it, or "bounce back" if you will.

I'm sure it means that he thinks she is hiding something in the shadows, because he has seen something there ... and I assume she has told him that he's wrong, he is mistaken about something ... But then he tells her that she needs to prove to him that he's wrong about what he thinks.

Same thing, he thinks that she is hiding something, and that the story she tells is not accurate or complete, and he really wants her to tell the whole story ... not just her way ("your way") but in total truth. He's tired of not knowing the whole story ... tired of the mystery that hides in the shadows? ...

That's how I interpret this, I hope I'm correct
