oh no Its Bernie Taupin ..............Without a doubt. M&M please?
Keith Buckley from Every Time I Die trumps anything i've ever heard.
His lyrics are so original it's like reading poetry but with whit and modernism.
Here's a song by the called Floater:
****
To my mistress the bridge, I don't feel well. I'll be leaving and you can't stop me.
We've been carrying on too long.
I'm sorry, but I'm gone. I've got a bad reputation to think about. I've been dirty, I've been wrong.
Maybe someday they'll find that I've washed up.
I'm stepping out to clear my head. I'm breathing in to fill my lungs. We're all dead.
Farewell scenic highway overpass.
It's better this way anyways. My lover the river makes a better soldier than a bride.
But I left my heart at the side of her bed and she's got the warmest body that I've ever had.
Drain the lake, you'll find it's full of love.
Bring the children to the water and let them see what heartache did.
This matrimony needs a witness, and you can teach them to swim.
Don't let your dreamers grow up to be dead men. Drown us at birth, save her some time.
Drifting on romantic holiday, breathless as her cold arms cover me. Drag the lake. You will find it is full of love.
-Sincerely mine. Finally.
****
This album has such good lyrics it's impossible to praise jusy one song though. Look at them all:

I don't really see Eminem as being that great.
His new stuff has the odd painfully bad line and the rest is just sort of quite good, but not the best i've ever heard. His old stuff was just childish crap that i could have written when i was 10.

M&M is a mistake of some sort. If you have ever read Bernie Taupins lyrics, you would agree!
In my personal opinion i think Eminem does, the way he tells his story in his lyrics and uses assonance to rhyme as well as normal rhymes. I like the way he doesn't write in set bars like 12 syllables or something like a lot of modern rappers who make the charts do, he has a different style and raps about life rather than girls like a LOT of rappers like to. I don't find he has the odd bad line though, it still adds to the song even if it doen't rhyme or something. BUT, i don't like how he tries to sing in some choruses or hooks.
i have to say that the original knives and pens song by black veil brides is awesome
Immortal Technique owns every rapper out there. Just sayin.
I've written pages upon pages
trying to rid you from my bones.
Uh, Billie Joe Armstrong? Are you guys nuts?
white lotus
brother ali
atmosphere
q tip
kanye west

Well u can't really say whos the best because every rapper has different rhyming schemes. And we all have different tastes but we can all agree these guys are amazing
Wu Tang Clan
Pac
Biggie
Big L
Immortal Technique
Eminem
Nas
Mos Def
Jurasic 5
Jadakiss

mostly agreed.
Farbrizio De André is absolutely great, i also like Luigi Tenco, and wish to mention Alex Britti, 'cause Oggi sono io is really one of the best love lyrics i've ever heard
Greeks - my fave is a Cypriot, Alkinoos Ioannidis
Peter Dolving, especially the songs with Peter Dolving Band, but some other Dolving projects' lyrics are also good
Mike Patton!
Todd A (from Firewater)
My Top 5:
#1- Arif Mirabdolbaghi (Protest The Hero)
#2- Eminem
#3- Nathan Ells (former The Human Abstract; now Sunlit Ether)
#4- Tommy Rogers (Between The Buried And Me)
#5- Adam Young (Owl City/Sky Sailing/anotherbazillionsideprojects)
Me! jk. But search up threads started by me and drop me a pm if you like what you read.
What's with these answers? rap lyrics are mostly $hit.
Eric Bloom (Blue Oyster Cult) is a very good lyricist. You can tell he's very passionate about and truly believes everything he writes. I also like the interesting way he references pop-culture.
I also like Anneke van Giersbergen's lyrics. They're generally simple, but very effective. She also delivers her vocals with alot of emotion and energy, which is good.

Rap lyrics NOWADAYS are mostly shxt, back in the days, rap was about real things, about life, about anything you can think of.
A regular writer who is not a rapper but just a singer or a lyricist, does not have the ability to say as much as a rapper would do, every rap is a real story. Somebody who says that most rap lyrics are shxt doesn't know anything about rap.
