J Crew 80's song

Was in a J Crew store in DC on 9/25/2010 and heard a song fromthe mid 80's. Kind of poppy and mellow, male singer, new wave-ish. Can't remember much of the lyrics but maybe something like " How can we go on" I'm trying to find out what 80's music J Crew currently has in the rotation but that is likely a hopeless task. Feels like this song was used in a movie...Yikes. this is hopeless, but maybe it will make sense to someone.
