    mawjood = available

    Examples:

    wain mawjood = where is it? where is it available?

    mawjood jowa il5azane = it is (available) inside the cupboard

    Can we have a list of common words that are unique to the dialect? And then a list of words that are the same as other dialects

    I'm the wrong person for this because of my background I use all the words in all the dialects

    Do you mean differences of the lebanese dialect compared to say syrian/palestinian/jordanian? Or do you mean bigger differences like egyptian/khaliji?

    There is a lebanese/palestinian thread in which others have pointed out a few differences like 3waynat/nadarat (glasses) and 2ali/7akali (told me) and 3ayit (cry in Palestinian, call/shout in lebanese) etc

    Can we make this thread a Sticky? I don't want it to be part of anything else. I want it to be pure Lebanese!! No comparison with Palestinian/Syrian/Jordanian.

    Give us some pure Lebanese idioms!!

    You know in the past they were just one big country called Greater Syria? So nothing is pure lebanese! (Well maybe having knafe for breakfast is )

    I can only try my best, but I have to admit, my accent is not consistent, some of my family speak lebanese, some speak Palestinian, some speak Jordanian...and for some weird reason I speak syrian

    Perhaps Daydream can help us out here

    So Lebanese NEVER use ytakalam or y2oul (except in phrase-mish ma 2oul)
    They say ya7ky and y2el right?
