I have a question about the lyrics to Carole Samaha's new song "Sawa."

Here's my try for the translation. It's clumsy and I'm sure I got a lot of things wrong. (The bye-, bet- prefixes give me a headache and I often confuse them.) Could anyone correct the English translation? Basically, just tell me what it actually says in the parts I got wrong and the parts I marked with a question mark.

Ps. I did the transliteration myself using this. I didn't differentiate between emphatic and non-emphatic consonants in my transliteration. You can see them in the Arabic lyrics at the link I gave.

    Carole Samaha - Sawa (Together)

shayef ya 7abibi had-denyi shu gharibi
Darling, look how strange this world is

    kel ma eba3d 3annak beta2reb ya 7abibi
The more it moves further away from you, the more you come close again/it comes close again (???)

    el 3omr byisri2na u mahma tfarre2na
We stole time?, no matter our differences (???)/no matter that we separated?

    fi 2uwi btijma3na u bedallak 7abibi
We come together (???) by force and you stay ???, darling

    x2

    sawa mnet7amal far7etna btekmal
Together we'll carry on/bear it, our happiness continues (?)

men ba3d mnakhod 2uwi ta 7obbna ma yidbal
From eachother ??? we get the strength to keep our love from wilting/so our love stays strong/so our love doesn't wilt?

    mned7ak u mnesha2 law la nzalamna mneb2a
We laugh ? and ???, even if our hurt/injustice (???) stays with us (???)/as if there were no hurt/injustice between us???

    3anna amal b-bukra fi basmi ba3d el 7ar2a
Our hope is/we have hope that tomorrow there will be a smile after the fight (literally: after the burning, i.e. something upsetting that has caused them to move apart?)

    bes-sa3da 7alemna 3amelna 3ashna
In/with joy (???) we dreamed, did things, and lived?

    kel ma te2rab leena far7a fi 2adar yiba3dna
The more happiness comes close to us both, it can move away from us (???)

    da3na b-hal 3alam ya ma shefna 3alam
We got lost in this world ??? (what does 'ya ma' mean? someone said 'so many times' and someone else said 'or'?)... seen the world

    be7ebbuna bikhununa fina allah le-3alem
We loved ???, we ???, let's let god be our wisdom? (let's leave it up to god, basically?)

    sawa mnet7ammal far7etna btekmal
men ba3d mnakhod 2uwi ta 7obbna ma yidbal
    mned7ak u mnesha2 law la nzalamna mneb2a
    3anna amal bi-bukra fi basmi ba3d el 7ar2a

    The same translation as above.

Great work. Here are my two cents:

    Carole Samaha - Sawa (Together)

shayef ya 7abibi had-denyi shu gharibi
Darling, look how strange this world is
Do you see my love, how strange this world is

    kel ma eba3d 3annak beta2reb ya 7abibi
The more it moves further away from you, the more you come close again/it comes close again (???)
Every time I move away from you, you come nearer my love

    el 3omr byisri2na u mahma tfarre2na
We stole time?, no matter our differences (???)/no matter that we separated?
Life takes us, and no matter how often we separate

    el 3omr bysra2na: el 3omr is life

    fi 2uwi btijma3na u bedallak 7abibi
We come together (???) by force and you stay ???, darling
There is a force that brings us back together, you remain my darling

fi 2uwi, there is a force, by force would be: bl 2uwi

    x2

    sawa mnet7amal far7etna btekmal
Together we'll carry on/bear it, our happiness continues (?)
Together we'll carry on/bear it, our happiness is complete (when we're together)

btekmal complete, betkamel is continues....slight difference

men ba3d mnakhod 2uwi ta 7obbna ma yidbal
From eachother ??? we get the strength to keep our love from wilting/so our love stays strong/so our love doesn't wilt?
From each other we take strength for our love to not wilt

    mned7ak u mnesha2 law la nzalamna mneb2a
We laugh ? and ???, even if our hurt/injustice (???) stays with us (???)/as if there were no hurt/injustice between us???
We laugh and we struggle, even if we're hurt, we stay (strong)

    3anna amal b-bukra fi basmi ba3d el 7ar2a
Our hope is/we have hope that tomorrow there will be a smile after the fight (literally: after the burning, i.e. something upsetting that has caused them to move apart?)
We have hope for tomorrow, after trouble comes ease

Yup basically, after the trouble, el 7ar2a, they will smile again

    bes-sa3da 7alemna 3a amelna 3ashna
In/with joy (???) we dreamed, did things, and lived?
With happiness we dreamt, with our hope we lived

3a amalna, not 3amelna, amal is hope

    kel ma te2rab leena far7a fi 2adar yiba3dna
The more happiness comes close to us both, it can move away from us (???)
Every time happiness comes near, fate moves us away (from each other)

    da3na b-hal 3alam ya ma shefna 3alam
We got lost in this world ??? (what does 'ya ma' mean? someone said 'so many times' and someone else said 'or'?)... seen the world
We got lost in this world, how often we saw people

[color=deeppink]ya ma = how often / so many times
ya alone, or ya ema is or

    be7ebbuna bikhununa fina allah le-3alem
We loved ???, we ???, let's let god be our wisdom? (let's leave it up to god, basically?)
who loved us, betrayed us...we have God, He is All Knowing

I thought no one was here anymore, hehe. Hi, VivaPalestina!

    Thanks for your invaluable corrections!

Oops, how did I not notice the alif with a hamza in 3a amelna?! I looked at this part so many times, but I honestly didn't notice. This is why it's good to have a native speaker check your translation so you don't make stupid mistakes like this!

I have a question about ya ema: how would I use it in a sentence?

Does it mean roughly the same as aw: taffe7a aw laymun/taffe7a ya ema laymun (an apple or an orange)?

Or is it more like ya... ya..., meaning that I would only use it in an either/or statement: ya ema taffe7a ya ema laymun (either an apple or an orange)?

And regarding ya ma, is it short for anything, like maybe ya marra(t) the way kel ma (every time) is short for kel marra?

    Czarek is back, too!

In the immortal words of Dumbledore, help will always be given to those who ask #PotterHead

Normally, you would say it as either/or: ya ema teffa7a ya ema laymun (only laymun here is lemon not orange...orange is burda2ne)

And nope, ya ma is not short for anything - as far as I'm aware

    Thanks again!

Though, I'm pretty sure that in Lebanese orange is laymun/laymoun/leymun/laymoun and lemon is 7amud/7amoud/7ammud/7ammoud (sour).

There's a Lebanese restaurant called Zahr el Laymoun (orange blossom).

It's a Lebanese thing. I'm not sure they call it that anywhere else in Arabia. Everywhere else, they mostly call it burda2ne, like you said.

Well, I personally use 7amed for lemon and burda2ene for orange. I've not used laimon for orange before but you could be right
