What a beautiful song - does anyone like to translate into English?

Meanwhile I searched google for an existing English translation, unsuccessfully according to a translation, but I found, I'm not alone. Panselinos compared both songs before here in ATL, and gave an very interesting hint for other related songs. Thanks, Panselinos!

Okay lopatka, I give up. Everything was well known before. But Reni is still mine - and she is my favorite one anyway :P

Meanwhile I read that it was stated, this song might be of Jewish (Sephardic) origin. Actually usual Türkü tunes (Turkish folk songs) differ from this song. But it can be played alla turca anyhow. Something maybe supports the thesis of Sephardic impact. One part of the official national hymn of Israel is almost identical with "Üsküdara gideriken" (or however we shall call it).

The main theme of the Israeli hymn however resembles to Smetana's "Die Moldau":


But the thesis of a tradition via Sephardic people could help to explain the recent distribution of the song at least.

...no chance to translate is as beautiful in any language, since - you know - for me even Tanya's Нощта на чуждите sounds very poetic

That's true but a real poet would be able to.
I mean think of the translations of Shakespeare.People actually managed to transfer some of the magic of the original English text.
