need a translation for this poem of Gatsos "Amorgos"

its a part from Gatsos's poem "Amorgos". I had an english translation of this poem but this part was missed from the translation. Can you please help me with this?


"Πόσο πολὺ σὲ ἀγάπησα ἐγὼ μονάχα τὸ ξέρω
Ἐγώ ποὺ κάποτε σ᾿ ἄγγιξα μὲ τὰ μάτια τῆς πούλιας
Καὶ μὲ τὴ χαίτη τοῦ φεγγαριοῦ σ᾿ ἀγκάλιασσα καὶ χορέψαμε μὲς στοὺς
καλοκαιριάτικους κάμπους
Πάνω στὴ θερισμένη καλαμιὰ καὶ φάγαμε μαζὶ τὸ κομένο τριφύλλι
Μαύρη μεγάλη θάλασσα μὲ τόσα βότσαλα τριγύρω στὸ λαιμὸ τόσα
χρωματιστὰ πετράδια στὰ μαλλιά σου."

Thank you for your reply. I checked the free translation and I couldn't understand the connection in the last three lines:

"on the stubble and we ate together the mown clover
the great dark sea with so many pebbles around your throat so many
colored stones in your hair."

in the second line of the translation up there that starts with "the great dark sea", it seems as if there is a missing connection of some kind with the previous line.

please help me with this if you can.

I won't try to analyze Gatsos ....

But the certain point you are asking for is probably a Metaphor.
"She" (the woman he refers to) seems either like a dark watered sea (probably cause of her skin/hair) full of pebbles and stones
or as beautifull as "The Black Sea" (infos about "The Black Sea" ->http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Sea)

Based on the above, if he refers to the visual phenomenon of dark-coloured human characteristics,
then, if I was doing the translation I would had written "a great dark sea"
but if metaphor means "The Black Sea" then I wouldn't change anything of the given translation.


Remember! Gatsos was under the affection of surrealism while he wrote his only published poem.

Finally, I may guarantee you that, the actual poem has absolutely NO connectivity problems according it's flow....
