    Default ilahi

Please..could you translate this song in English?

    Güzel aşık cevrimizi
    Çekemezsin demedim mi?
    Bu bir rıza lokmasıdır
    Yiyemezsin demedim mi?

    Yemeyenler kalır naçar
    Gözlerinden kanlar saçar
    Bu bir demdir gelir geçer
    Duyamazsın demedim mi?

    Aşıklar harabat olur
    Hakkın katında kutlu olur
    Muhabbet baldan tatlı olur
    Doyamazsın demedim mi?

    Çıkalım meydan yerine
    Erelim Ali sırrına
    Can-ü başı Hakk yoluna
    Koyamazsın demedim mi?

    Bu dervişlik bir dilektir
    Bilene büyük devlettir
    Yensiz yakasız gömlektir
    Giyemezsin demedim mi?

    ***thanks

Thank you for answering...Yes it is really difficult...but I didn't know that even for Turkish it was that hard...Anyway, I hope that someone would try

Until now I was able to find only the first lines...

    Fellow dervish, you couldn’t handle
Our difficulties didn’t I tell you?
Here is sweet morsel of approval
You can’t eat it, didn’t I tell you?

beautiful lover, didn't i tell you
that you couldn't bear our torment?
this is a morsel of consent
didn't i tell you that you couldn't eat it?

those who don't eat it remain helpless
    blood spatters from their eyes
this is a moment, it comes and passes
didn't i tell you that you couldn't sense it?

    lovers are like ruins
they are blessed in the presence of (god) the truth
    love/affection/chitchat is sweeter than honey
didn't i tell you you couldn't be full up?

let's go out to the meydan
let's attain the secret of Ali
didn't i tell you that you couldn't commit
your soul, your head to the way of (god) the truth?

    this dervishhood is a wish
it is a great wealth for those who know
it is a shirt without sleeves and collars
didn't i tell you that you couldn't don it?

this is an alevi poem (nefes or breath) and it has many words or pharases that have deeper levels of meaning other than their plain meanings, which i won't venture to explain. the reader should bear in mind that there is much more to it than this rough translation gives away.

Thank you by hearth for this translation
Indeed is really difficult and about the meaning, I started to read something about nefes and songs from the Asik..
Nor the grammatical construction nor the meaning are easy but is worth to read them and listen to them
    Thanks again

    Default Similar Lyrics

I think these two lyrics translated by ilkin and duru are very similar, some parts are matching exactly.

this is not a "ilahi"... as ilkin wrote its an alevi poem, you can also say semah, nefes, deyish (alevis are a religion group in anatolia also in balkan) this was written from the most famous alevi-dervish pir sultan aptal
