    Morning cigarette

The day breaks and the city is in repose.
In our neighboorhood a chimney is smoking,
and I want you, like a morning cigarette
and like bitter coffee, and like bitter coffee

The streets [are] empty, there is not a soul in sight,
and the moon has just sunk in the West,
and I am looking for you, like an inevitable solution
and like the sun rising, and like the sun rising.

The sun comes up, the radio is sounding off
with a chasapiko which cries for some Taso
And I, I make my bet with you, and afterwards, I pass,
on a hidden hand: four of a kind, four of a kind.

    beautiful song

    Default Some info!

    Hi Toni and Y!

This song is dedicated to Manos Loizos, a composer who died in early 80's. (So there's a fault info in the given link from youtube)

In 1985, 4 years after his death there was a big concert in the Olympic Stadium of Athens which attendance was more than 80.000!
From that concert was taken the first recording of the "Prwino Tsigaro" that sounds in your link Toni. The song is written by Alkis Alkaios (Lyrics) and Notis Mavroudis (music).

Here are the only 2 uploaded links from this concert:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnv5ue7eK3A
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U51fhSGq2qk

    As for the translation....
In the last two sentences goes like this:

And I bet, with you as my stake, and afterwards, I pass,
on a hidden hand: four of a kind, four of a kind.

    Nice work Y!
"Gilgamesh, where are you hurrying to?
You will never find that life for which you are looking.
When the gods created man they allotted to him death,
but life they retained in their own keeping"
