    Cool Caterina Bueno songs

    Ciao, amici miei!

Caterina Bueno - I think she is/was from Toscana - has sang mainly italian folksongs and was/is very famous for that.
Don't know about her history, haven't checked it
Has anyone a translation for" Cade l'Uliva" or "500 catenelle d'oro" or even "Ninna Nanna"?
That would be a great start for the New Year

For now this is all I've found, I didn't get some parts for I'm not too familiar with toscano...

Ninna nanna, il mio ciocione,/ lullaby to my child
ché di pane non ce n'è un boccone./ for there's not even a bite of bread
Né del crudo e né del cotto,/ nor raw nor cooked
né del macinato troppo./ not even too ground

Il mugnaio non è venuto,/ the miller didn't show up
lo potesse mangiare i' lupo,/ may the wolves eat him
i' lupo e la lupaia,/ the wolf and the wolves lair
gli venisse l'anguinaia./ wish him a groin pain

Anguinaia l'è mala cosa,/ groin pain is a bad thing
e più in su ci sta una sposa./ and a bit more further there's a bride
E più giù ce ne sta un'altra,/ and below there's another
una la fila e una l'annaspa./ one is spinning the other is floundering (?)

Una fa il cappellino di paglia/ one is making a straw hat
pe' portallo alla battaglia./ to bring it to battle
La battaglia e i' battaglino/ the battle and the -----
dettero foco a Barberino./ set alight barberino

Barberino, corri, corri,/ Barberino run run
dette foco a quelle torri./ they set those towers on fire
Una torre la si spezzò,/ a tower collapsed
i' bambino s'addormentò./ and the child fell asleep

Una torre la si spezzò,/ a tower collapsed
i' bambino s'addormentò./ and the child fell asleep

    CADE L'ULIVA

Cade l'uliva e non cade la foglia/ falls the olive but not the leaf
le tue bellezze non cadono mai/ your beauties ne'er fall
sei come il mare che cresce a onde/ you're like the sea that rises in waves
cresce per vento ma per acqua mai./ or for the wind but never because of water
E tu sei come l'erbo tenerino/ and you're like tender grass
quanto più cresci più 'dventi bellino/ the more you grow the more you become gracious
e tu sei come l'erbo tenerello/ and you're like the tender grass
quanto più cresci più doventi bello./ the more you grow up the more you become handsome

    .................................................. .........

    500 CATENELLE D'ORO

    E cinquecento catenelle d'oro / 500 golden chainlets
hanno legato lo tuo cuore al mio / have tied your heart to mine

E l'hanno fatto tanto stretto il nodo/ and the knot is so tight
che non si sciogliera' ne te ne io/ no one will ever undo it, nor you nor me

E l'hanno fatto un nodo tanto forte/ and the knot is so strong
che non si sciogliera' fino alla morte/ that it won't untie till death
