Default Fairuz Hkili hkili an baladi english translation

    Hi,

Could somebody translate the lyrics of this song or at least briefly tell what it's about?

    I really appreciate your time.

Not sure if this is completely right, since Lebanese isn't my specialty, but I do LOVEEEEEEE Fairuz. Any corrections are welcome.

Tell me, Tell me about my country, tell me.
Oh wind, passing over the trees before me,
(Tell me) about my family, a story, about my house, a story.
and about my childhood neighbor, a long story.
Oh wind, passing over the earth of the cave,
I made you swear that you would come and play with me in this house
Let me know if he still remembers me
In my country, and in the evening he waits for me
A few joyous hours, my love, tell me
I made you swear that you would let me know how the olives are doing
And the boys and girls in the shade of the windmill
And the almond and the earth, and our sky
He is here, our country and our air
Tell me, my love, how the deprived days have started.

Hi Jbutl16 thanks for the translation.

regarding the last verse could it be translated into : "Tell me my love (how) the deprived days have started" ?

hmm... is it like "when/how the greedy days that deprived us from one another started/flourished" ?

I guess no. I thinks she wants he tells her how the deprived/needy days of her country started. I guess this song was written during the lebanese civil war
