    Default Yannis Poulopoulos Song

I am looking for an English translation of a Greek song by Yiannis Poulopoulos, from the 1970s. I believe the title is Έμαθε’ H Nύχτα Nα Mην Kλαίει, as that's how it appears on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vJnbmTuSUI

I have checked alpha list here of songs and it's not on there.

    It translates, rather literally to:

    Learned 'the night not crying
    tear Either patience
and no matter how much sorrow and with burns
    find dew on a rain
He came and told me bring my summer
thanks in your hand is not lost
    in your goodness and love
    how warmed
    Learned the pain lygaei
    I took courage in life
    Now love me's driving
    the dream we had together

I think the first line is attempting to say, "the lesson of a night with no tears . . .

Can someone provide a better interpretation/translation of this song in English?

    Many thanks,
    Soteria

    Hello,

    Here you go:

Έμαθ’ η νύχτα να μην κλαίει
    το δάκρυ να `χει υπομονή
κι όσος καημός και να με καίει
    βρίσκω δροσιά σε μια βροχή

The night learned not to cry
The tear (learned) to have patience
And no matter how much sorrow burns me
I find coolness in a rain

Ήρθες και μου ’φερες το καλοκαίρι μου
χάρη στο χέρι σου δε χάθηκα
στην καλοσύνη σου και στην αγάπη σου
    πόσο ζεστάθηκα

You came and brought me the summer
Thanks to your hand I wasn't lost
    In your kindness and love
    I got so warm

    Έμαθε ο πόνος να λυγάει
    πήρα κουράγιο στη ζωή
    τώρα η αγάπη μ’ οδηγάει
    στ’ όνειρο που κάναμε μαζί

    The pain learned to bend
    I gathered courage in life
    Now the love leads me
To the dream we made together

    Thank you so much!!!

The translation is beautiful and fits well. I've loved this song for a long time, even though not sure exactly what it was trying to convey. I pretty much understood the chorus, and the last verse, with the exception of the word, λυγάει, which I didn't realize was "bend" and wouldn't come up in any online greek dictionaries or translations.
