    Default An Italian Song

I've been looking for the lyrics for a song titled: Capuccina or Signorina Capuccina. It had been sung by Nat King Cole and is now on a CD That's Amore, A Night in Little Italy (Guido Luciani). Have really searched for it, but nothing found. I'd like any Italian words to be translated to English..a great help. Thanking you all in advance.

Boy... that is tough to find! No one is giving these lyrics away for free! I did find a link to the song by Nat here http://www.larryfranco.it/discogusa.html but I didn't listen to it, so I don't know if it's the one you are looking for or not.

I guess Capuccina as sung by Nat King Cole, is based on this Italian song, Permettete Signorina (Hum, I thought it was Permette, but my Italian is VERY rusty!):

    Permettete signorina
vi dispiace se vi chiedo di ballar
    non c'e' bimba piu' carina
che mi possa questa sera far sognar
    siamo stretti tra la folla
    come batte il vostro cuore
    sul mio cuor
    c'e' la luna sul mar
    e' un invito a passeggiar
    non mi dite di no
    permettete signorina
vi do' il braccio ma voi datemi del tu
    ogni passo ci avvicina
    ogni passo m'innamoro sempre piu'
    siamo stretti tra la folla
    come batte il vostro cuore
    sul mio cuor
    c'e' la luna sul mar
    e' un invito a passeggiar
    non mi dite di no
    dammi un bacio signorina
solo un bacio io ti chiedo e nulla piu'

    ci vedremo domattina
    quando il sole avra' disciolto
    tutto il blu
    ma stanotte nei miei sogni
quante volte tra le braccia ti terro'
    o mia bella signorina
    baciami ancor
    dammi dammi un bacio
    un lungo bacio
    e ciao ciao ciao

    Excuse me miss,
do you mind if I ask you to dance with me?
    There’s no girl more beatiful
who could make me dream tonight
we’re close to each other in the crowd
    how your heart beats
    next to mine
the moon shines above the sea
it’s an invitation for a walk
    don’t tell me “no”
    excuse me miss,
we may walk arm in arm, but address me with “tu”*
every step brings us closer together
with every step I fall in love deeper and deeper
we’re close to each other in the crowd
    how your heart beats
    next to mine
the moon shines above the sea
it’s an invitation for a walk
    don’t tell me “no”
give me a kiss my lady
I’m only asking you for a kiss, nothing else

We’ll see each other tomorrow morning
when the sun will have dissipated
    all the blue
    but tonight, in my dreams,
I’ll hold you in my arms so many times
    oh, my beautiful lady
    kiss me once more
give me, give me one kiss
    a long kiss
    and bye bye bye

*in italian it’s possible to address people as “Lei” (sort of more formal) or as “tu” (informal, intimate)
“If cats looked like frogs we'd realize what nasty, cruel little bastards they are. Style. That's what people remember.” ― Terry Pratchett.

Hello! I have moved the thread here in the Italian section, because translation was needed, too!
