THE STOLEN WIFE
I haven’t been able to rest for three nights
I keep hearing:
it’s a viper hissing
hissing next to the water.
I composed a new song
come and listen to it
it’s about a wife who went to a banquet
and never came back.
There was an extra guest
who kept staring at her:
“I’d like to show to my people
your wife clothing”
she followed him naively
and tried to come back
they were waiting for her until the night
but she didn’t turn back.
A busker was walking alone
in the middle of the night
when the stranger
stood in front of him:
“Maybe you’re looking for the wife
who went lost,
if you’ve got the guts to follow me
I’ll take you to her”
And a boat took him
on the dark water,
he found the wife
in a gold gown
“I’ll give you my ring
take it to my husband,
I don’t suffer here any longer
neither evil nor desire”
The busker turned around
took a single step
and heard her screaming
from the water suffocating her
She shone like light
when she left
where may have taken her
the man who stole her?
I haven’t been able to rest for three nights
I keep hearing:
it’s a viper hissing
hissing next to the water.
