Hello, this is my first entry. I'm new to this site and happy to have found it!

I have created a wonderful close friendship with a Man from Greece and our love for music and my passion to learn Greek has him sending me songs to translate and while i make some progress "googling" Dictionaries has its limitations.
Please help me to translate his song to English!

as erxosoun gia ligo ki as hanosoun meta

    Thank you sooooo much!

    Default Very old song

    Very old song

    You can hear it here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZFUCWs9M-I

"Ας ερχόσουν γιά λίγο" a tango dedicated to Sophia Vembo by Mimi Traiforos

    Music by Michalis Souyioul (1900-1958)
    Lυrics by Mimi Traiforos (1912-1998)
Sung by Danai (born in 1913)

    Year: 1948

    Πού νάσαι αλήθεια το βράδυ αυτό;
Where could you be this night?
    that I'm alone, so lonely
and with me are playing "hide-and seek"
sometimes the boredom and sometimes the pain

Where could you be this night?
    that wild wind swings me
(just) to come near me and with a hot kiss
to fill me up with summertime

I wish you would come for a while
    just for a night
    to fill up with light
    my frightening darkness

    And into your arms
    to squeeze me warmly
I wish you would come for a while
    and disappear later

Where are you to be, to come this night
in these streets that love you
    theirs little familiar duet
    our footsteps to "sing" again

Where are you to be, to come this night
that hope turned into dried leaf
(just) to come near me to have a shelter
    against pain's storms.

"Gilgamesh, where are you hurrying to?
You will never find that life for which you are looking.
When the gods created man they allotted to him death,
but life they retained in their own keeping"
