She sang "I wanna lose my man..." and I got hooked 15 years ago.
Still there, but can't identify.
It’s a blues song that was supposedly performed by an African American woman (noticeable accent).
The song reached me in Moscow (Russia) in about 1979-80 (which places its release roughly before that time). It was brought to our University’s campus by one of our foreign students from Europe.
Here's what I got for lyrics:
Refrain: I wanna lose my man
I wanna lose my man
Yeah-yeah-yeah
(2 times)
I never realized this guy was not for me
And every single night he wants to watch TV.
About where he gets his gifts I don't know
He doesn't smoke, he doesn't drink, it does not go.
(Refrain)
……………………………………………………..
……………………………………………………..
He's never smoked pot he's never sniffed cocain
His old and (…) routine's just driving me insane.
I remember
He was so tender
And I could die now
And I cry
and I cry
and I cry...
I still love him
And I'll be trying
But it's not worth it
If I try
if I try
if I try...
(Refrain)
While all my friends are just a bunch of crazy guys
A guy who ………. was very special to my eyes
It must have been the difference (that) attracted me
I could only imagine how boring it could be
It's not for me!
It's not for me!
It's not for me!
(Refrain)
Really hope someone out there can find this treasure from the 70s. Thanks!

Wow that is hard to find! I guess songs from the 70's just get forgotten and never put online. I was looking for a song from the 70's as well called "I only live to love you" and found nothing. I will keep trying for you though. How do you know all the lyrics so accurately?

Thank you so much for your effort, Thistle. Speaking of lyrics, it was something. English is my second language (Russian is the first) and the singer does not pronounce clear, either. It was really frustrating when I found one of my old tapes (I brought with me when I emigrated to Canada) and asked my Canadian buddies to listen. They could not catch it, either! We'd listened repetitively (3 of us) for several times. Now I'm thinking of digitizing the tape (don't know how, not yet) and posting it as an MP3. What really gets me, it was not something rare. It was a well made piece (I would say, a qiuite aggressive statement in "blues-looking" hits). It was brought to Moscow by an international student, so it was already sorted as something quite outstanding.
