well Laura, welcome again, first of all, I'm sorry for your loss.
I have to agree, Shereen's voice is really incredible, she can do much better than what she's doing which is great to begin with, and you're the 1st I've encountered here that likes Abdel Halim.
That part about not being able to buy a loaf of bread really cracked me up, that's kinda the case with me with Turkish right now.
About the Amr Diab thing... I don't think I can forgive you.
and yes i have to agree that Arabic beauty lies in its text, the Arabic Calligraphy is considered a form of art here, and that's why we still hold on to it and haven't romanized it.

about amr diab. i'm a big fan of amr diab. the first time that i'v heard his voice with "habibi ya noor el a3in" i was only 10.
one of my friend packs some translates of the lyrics of amr diab in here AmrDiab.IR - Lyrics-English
he is really popular at persia. also there is some ones whoms translate some arabic lyrics to persian and about 3000 sites and weblogs about arabian singers in farsi.
but to be honestly i love the way that you translating. specially with those gold explains! you have a lot of SABR for a amateur person like me.

Hallo Again,
so here my first reques. From the song "mosh bilkalam" by Ragheb Alamah, I cannot understand the meaning of the last sentence of the refran (neither my maroccan arabic teacher can):


خليني أشوف فيك أحلامي
وأحس بيك دايماً جنبي
لو جنبي أو مش قدامي

What I understand is:

Because I live for you my days
let me see in you my dreams
and I feel you always by my side
(and this is the sentence we do not understand... could be:
by my side but not ahead of me?...)

Be aware that my translation is more practical than poetic. I try to translate as literally as possible, because i am trying to learn the language.
