    Everything worked. Thanks..

Hola Ecilqua , thanks for the inquiry. This whole learning Farsi thing started when I became a very close friend with a coworker. She recently came from Afghanistan where farsi is their language also. I would hear her talk all the time. I was invited to her home and was intrigued by her customs. I started learning using pimsleur cd's and found I wanted to know more. Especially when she didnt give the same answers to the questions I asked that the lessons did. (how embarrassing) I spent months looking for somehow to learn and found a wonderful Iranian woman who used to teach in Tehran and was willing to teach me. She convinced me that if I really wanted to learn I had to also read and write. Boy what did I get myself into!? Well I wound up learning much about Iran. I am taking the summer break from it now, but plan to continue this Fall (September here)I cant wait for one day to be fluent in Farsi.

Bonjour Hermes I learned french in High school but never spoke it since. Sorry but I never thought I would use it and I am no Lance Armstrong (Is he a cheat?) I would love to see Paris. And yes none of my friends (except my new friends on this forum)know that I have begun this adventure into persian language.. It is not exactly the most popular language here..you cant find the music..you cant find text for learning and literature is typically 2 or three (ketabs) books at a library.

    Urakan...David...Thats the D in my middle name..yeah!

Pauly...I have close Italian friend we call Pauly.

Mehdi Thanks for the numbers lesson

Question for Vanda. I like many types of music..from heavy metal hard rock to orchestral classical...but if starting to listen to Iranian or Persian music, what is considered cool! or good music? Is there a top 40 list of popular songs. Is it classified into groups like dance etc..? I dont have a taste yet because I haven't heard enough. Plus the songs that the girls like or the "laugh that may be cute" may not be so cute for a guy.

Hi Gregory, I am taking Arabic lessons, but I confess I am starting to know Farsi better than Arabic as I practise more… hehe :-)… also, for me is much easy: the pronunciation, the grammar…

well, people in my country have even difficulties to locate Iran in the map :-) Most of them don’t even know what Farsi is! (I confess two years ago I didn’t know it either :-( …mea culpa). They think people speak Arabic in Iran and the only things they know about the country are all bad… :-( specially what comes to women… I think that the fact of seeing women being killed with stones on TV just blocks people´s thinking… they freeze on that image and they don’t want to move forward… So, it is not really a very popular country in Spain… But they also know very well the Shaa of Persia, Soraya and Farah Diva… :-) I just think they do not know how to link all those pieces together… Generally, people don’t want to know. They don’t understand, but they don’t want to understand… We are still quite undeveloped here in Spain… sadly. The dictatorial regime ended just right when I was born in middle 70s, so I am the first generation of free citizens and democracy. But people forget history with an amazing speed… We don’t ride donkeys anymore (this was the typical image of Spain before), but we have become donkeys instead!.

But you know, generally people are quite interested when I talk about Iran. I just notice that they fear because they don’t know. They just know what they hear in TV, and of course tv shows only what attracts the audience: Bread and circus to the people.

    Hi Gregory,

Nice to hear from you! Salam!
Laura is my real name. This name is of Latin origin meaning "Laurel". The laurel tree or sweet bay tree is symbol of honor and victory. You can call me "Laura pirozy" ;-)

Nop, for sure was not me running with the bulls. I do not like very much those traditions of my country... I believe animals should be respected as much as humans. I dislike any kind of abuse of power against the weaker, whether fisical, economical or intellectual. And this applies to animals also.
