I'm looking for songs, normal songs, with great violin in them. Songs like "The Parting of a Sensory" by Modest Mouse, "Breathe Me" by Sia, and "Twilight" by Elliott Smith.
Does anyone know of any other great songs like that?

oh man, now you have me looking for a song.
There's this one song by yellowcard and it's pretty much all violin.
It's pretty awesome. So if you find it, let me know =P
Ou, there are sooo many Violin-filled songs by Yellowcard. Could you possibly be thinking of "Believe"?
Bahah, that's probably it.
Thanks for helping?
even though this is your thread =P
The Verve - Bitter Sweet Symphony
there are violins all tru the song i believe
YouTube - The Verve - Bitter Sweet Symphony
The band called Corrs should have violins in some of their songs, as I know one of the ladies there plays violin in that band. Something like this: YouTube - dreams - the corrs
Ou, I love the Verve! I just happened to not mention tht song (woops). But I'll look into the other band.
I LOVE violin music!!! (My favorite instrument without a doubt). Here are some artists that I like that have violins in some of their songs:
Dido (Do you have a little time), Enya, Josh Groban, J. Ralph (One Million Miles Away), Mythos, some Sarah Brightman, Vanessa Mae...etc.
If you like classical music with a modern flair...may I also recommend the group Bond (the string quartet). They are awesome! Hope that is enough for you to find some songs you like out of that.
Cheers!
Thistle
Sorry, wayyy off topic here, but when I clicked on this topic and read Thistle's post, I was listening to J. Ralph's 'The Illusionary Movements of Geraldine and Nazu' album at the same time...
Great artist, talented (and what is the most weird thing, he can't read or write down music in traditional way with notes, he never even studied music or instruments).
I just had to say this![]()
That was very interesting about J. Ralph Lolipop! He produces wonderful music! If you like his music...you might also enjoy E.S. Posthumus. (Lepcis Magna is a good one by them). Very powerful and the violins are amazing.
Thought i'd add that.![]()
Two really good tunes of the 60s were by a band known as The Left Banke. They had two hits titled "Pretty Ballerina" and "Walk Away Renee". Both songs have really sweet violins The band was known, according to "those" who know, to utilize baroque string arrangements. Enjoy the songs and thank you wikipedia.
hey, I have another song but it is a Japanese one.=D
Michi~to you all by Aluto

The beginning of "Untouched," by The Veronicas is awesome, but the rest of the song takes some getting used to, try it though.
Also, Lucia Micarelli is awesome!! Look her up, all of its good!
Thought of another one... I don't think its violin, pretty sure its cello (only in the beginning), but whatever it is, its a sting instrument...
Its called "Johnny and June," by Heidi Newfield.

Surprising song is "Live with me" by Massive Attack , very nice vocals from Mr. Terry Callier and beautiful string arrangement !!
The mind is a wonderful thing...
Ahh, thanks for all the songs! By the way, I ADORE live with me. I forgot to list it in my original post, but it's probably one of my favorite songs EVER.

That's actually the Andrew Oldham's Orchestra playing their version of This time by The Rolling Stones... the Verve used it without permission and then put in the credits after the Stones "had words".
Totally butchering a Fleetwood Mac classic. but yeah, they're a good band. The band called Corrs should have violins in some of their songs, as I know one of the ladies there plays violin in that band. Something like this: YouTube - dreams - the corrs
Here's my selection.
The Levellers - The Game
Charlie Daniels Band - The Devil Came Down To Georgia
Deus - Suds 'n' Soda
Dexy's Midnight Runners - Come On Eileen
