So im looking for the lyrics from some songs in an old computer game called warhammer : chaos gate.
through much investigation i learned the man who made the songs was a "Jim Crew" JimCrewMusic-CrewCuts <---his site
and these are the songs in question:
http://www.zrs.hr/~andro/WarHammer_4...te-Track01.mp3 this one is sometimes titled "lord of battle(dominus pugnae)" in various download programs
http://www.zrs.hr/~andro/WarHammer_4...te-Track02.mp3 this one goes by the name "waltz of the damned(saltatio damnatibus)" in various download programs
http://www.zrs.hr/~andro/WarHammer_4...te-Track03.mp3 this one is called "march into hell" with no latin name in download programs
http://www.zrs.hr/~andro/WarHammer_4...te-Track04.mp3
http://www.zrs.hr/~andro/WarHammer_4...te-Track05.mp3 this one goes by the name "ultramarine chant" in download programs (you hear the word ultramarini in it too)
http://www.zrs.hr/~andro/WarHammer_4...te-Track06.mp3
http://www.zrs.hr/~andro/WarHammer_4...te-Track07.mp3
http://www.zrs.hr/~andro/WarHammer_4...te-Track08.mp3
http://www.zrs.hr/~andro/WarHammer_4...te-Track09.mp3 this one is known as "battle music" in download programs, altho this could be a coincidence since the original files were named combat_music_# (# representing the number)
http://www.zrs.hr/~andro/WarHammer_4...te-Track10.mp3 this one is named "carl orff" in them programs,he was the composer for carmina burana.
as you can see, they all have some sort of latin chanting going on with some orchestral background.
its said the original composer Jim Crew doesnt even have the original tracks with him,so i can only guess to the real titles or lyrics of the tracks

Chaos Gate - Ultramarine Chant
oh well.. somewhere... I really searched and searched and even DLed the songs... but it's hard you know...
Agitatis Ultramarini,
Dominitis Ultramarini.
Shim tomane ate sim
Kima sim arate sim -
-
This information is from another site, the poster stated Ultramarine Chant translated to something like ..
To be Unclean, That is the Mark of the Xenos
To be Impure, That is the Mark of the Xenos
To be Abhorred, That is the Mark of the Xenos
To be Reviled, That is the Mark of the Xenos
To be Hunted, That is the Fate of the Xenos
To be Purged, That is the Fate of the Xenos
To be Cleansed, For that is the Fate of all Xenos.
I hope that helps. And thanks for posting these songs, Chaos Gate was a great game. -
yeah,i saw that youtube video too.unfortunately the translation is not right.
not only do you clearly hear "ultramarini"(ultramarines) in the song.there are only two variations of the original two part chant
agitatis ultramarini
dominitis ultramarini
and i think i hear a "mobilitis" ultramarini, but i doubt thats the case.it definitely has an "L" in the first word tho -
Agitatis Ultramarini,
Dominitis Ultramarini.
These first lines although they are not exactly latin, they should mean something like "Do some commotion Ultramarines, Dominate them Ultramarini"
Shim tomane ate sim
Kima sim arate sim
some of the words make sense in spanish, but I don't know enough from spanish to help out -
heres an idea!
try going to your local games workshop (preferably at some odd time when there not swamped with custumers) and ask about it. the employees probally wont know the lyrics but they can tell how to find out who can.
the games workshop website is www.gamesworkshop.com you can find a worldwide list of there store locations and phone# there. -
I also heard the word mortis (death) several times in the songs.
the hardest part is understanding what there saying may ill give a copy to the languege department att my college (hopefully someone there knows latin)
also
"Shim tomane ate sim
Kima sim arate sim"
sounds like high gothic (an invention of games workshop i think) -
im pretty sure games workshop employees(in shops anyway) wouldnt know a damn thing about who to contact.
the only people who could possibly know about the music were people directly involved with the making of the game.sadly random games disbanded and i have no idea who worked in that development studio.
and yes,i can hear mortis(death) dies irae(day of judgement) dies mortis(day of death) tenebrarum(darkness) and other common latin words in there.but to really understand what the singing is about id need someone who regularly listens to greagorian chants or latin opera. -
There are must be some Gregorian monasteries
-
games workshop will need to keep a copy of the song for copyright reasons.
the legal deparment in there hq would probobly be able to look it up.
if you are a white dwarf susciber you could send a letter to Dirty Steve.
