Whassup Red! I used to live in Palm Bay and Satellite Beach, 2 tours at Patrick AFB. If you've ever driven on A1A by the base, I worked at AFTAC, the building south of the hangars, across from the NCO Club, with the (rotting) missiles out front. But maybe the missiles are gone now, I haven't been there since 1991.

My home now is Wake Forest, NC. Not the university, that's in Winston-Salem ... the town of Wake Forest (original home of Wake Forest College) is just north-east of Raleigh.
Having problems with vertigo for 2-3 days ... it's temporary, a mild case and it will pass, but for now I can't stay on the computer as much as normal :-/ ...

Hi all, thanks for all the welcomes! Yall are sweet.

Jandros, Ive done some fishing up in the SatBeach area, went out in my kayak a few times near there. And I have indeed driven A1A by the base but don't really remember any rotting missiles. That doesn't mean they aren't still rotting out there though. lol

How are ya liking Wake Forrest? I love the area up there in the Appalachians. Used to live in east Tennessee and have family in Greenville SC. Can't wait to visit this summer.

And eGo1st, I will be turning 31 in September. =)

Thanks again to everyone who has made me feel so welcome!

Wake Forest is nice, it's a small town that wants to keep its small-town flavor. But this area -- Raleigh / Durham / Research Triangle Park -- is growing so fast, it wants to steamroll over everything. I live in the country, between Raleigh and Wake Forest. But it won't be "country" for much longer.

YES, EASTERN TENNESSEE! That and western NC, the Great Smokey Mountains. I've seen 41 of the 50 United States, and there is nothing more beautiful than our mountains.

Trivia: From Greenville SC, you're only 2 hours from the highest point east of the Mississippi River, Mt Mitchell. You can see 7 states from the tower on the summit.

    More trivia:

... In September I'll be skimming the airspace over West Palm Beach, enroute to Miami and a cruise on the eastern Caribbean.

... I used to have relatives in West Palm Beach, my father's cousins.

... My best friend in the USAF is from Miami, family name is Biddle.

    It's a small world

i hate when towns get 'steamrolled' as you say. i can understand wanting to keep the smallness in a town. there are still some towns in the everglades that are fighting to be kept small. on the flip side of the coin, i understand the evolution of progress and development. it always seems to intrude on the small parts of the land we live on.

the Great Smokey Mountains are indeed a slice of Heaven. my two favorite places ive ever been are the Great Smokey Mts. and Costa Rica.

and it is a small world, aint it?
