How can I say : "Sorry, I'm very late"

Can I say ,as I say always, : "Estoy muy tarde" ... O "Soy muy tarde" ???

Coz a Spanish girl told me , as I understood her , that it is wrong to say : "Estar tarde " ..

Coz she can't speak English never ... and she told me that in Spanish and maybe I couldn't understand all her speach

and When I said :"Soy tarde" She told me Nooooo u can't say this ....

What's this ?? .. She told me to say " Es tarde " !!!

es tarde means "it's late"
but i dont know how to say "im very late"
wait for someone else to reply you

What do you mean exactly? The sentence I'm very late it's kind of indefinite.

If you mean "I came late" then you can say Llequé muy tarde...

On the other hand if you want to say "it took me such a long time to respond/write to you/talk to you" you can say me llevó mucho/tanto tiempo responder/escribirte/hablarte.

You're right Maria, "Sorry, I'm very late" can't be translated to spanish literaly. So you have these ideas to express that:

"Perdón/disculpas, llegué muy tarde"

"Perdón/disculpas por la demora"

"Perdón/Disculpas por tardar en..."

And a lot of more expressions

I didn't think so = Yo no creí eso / You no creí que fuera así / No pensé eso / No pensé que fuera así
