This next bit is a long shot, but I may as well ask. I've been looking for a particular song for many decades now. The song I am seeking was played on Radio Luxembourg or Radio North Sea three times one night as I lay in bed around 1967 - 1969 when I was a junior schoolboy. I’ve never heard it played since and it almost certainly never charted. All I can recall is that the word BALCONY was sung as the focal point in each chorus (so it's almost certainly used in the title too) and it was similar in style to the bubblegum pop sound of this late 60s era. It would be much appreciated if anyone had any ideas as to what this song might be. It was similar in sound to this Tracy song by the Cufflinks. Unlike wesmont. I cannot even recall the tune, but I’d know it if I heard it. Here’s a link to the Tracy song:

For the "balcony" song, have you tried "Sittin' In The Balcony" by Eddie Cochran (or John D Loudermilk)?

    Hauntboy and Musicismyfirstlove,

I moved the "Balcony" request to a separate posting so it could get better exposure and hopefully a faster response.

    Long Shot Here.

Our memories do fade with time and seem to rearrange things so I'm going to offer this song because it could invoke thoughts of a Balcony. (My memory does this to me anyway)

"Just Like Romeo and Juliet" - The Reflections

Aaaaah, I thought that was going to be it for a moment, but, alas, no - no mention of a balcony for starters, though I can see what you were thinking of.

The song I heard could possibly have been a foreign group, though chances are it was a UK song that failed to chart. The fact that I heard it 3 times on one night it must have been popular amongst some people.

Can you still hear the rhythm of the music in your head. Maybe you can hum the tune and throw the word Balcony in wherever it fits. It's easy to do....(Microphone and Sound Recorder in your computer)......then post it to www.zshare.net . Worth a shot.

Thanks, I'll try that - does this site recognise every individual song that's been recorded in every country, because this song is probably little known?

As for the tune and placement of the word " Balcony", I can't recall anything really because it is about 40 years ago. All I know is the words about the balcony, which were possibly "On the balcony", came in the chorus and there were about 2 or 3 in the song. I was ill in bed with mumps and had the radio on all day and night - that's why I heard it come on those 3 times on 3 separate shows, you see. It came 3 times on that night on Rad Luxembourg or Rad Caroline and I've never heard it since from that day to this. I assumed, at the time, I would hear it again, and it was only some years later I recalled the night I heard it and realised that I'd never heard it since.

There are 3 things above all that I have been searching for from my distant past and this song is one of them... the other 2 are people and I found one of those. 2 out of 3 wouldn't be bad!

    Hauntboy,

Did you checkout my previous suggestion for "Sittin' In The Balcony" by Eddie Cochran (or John D Loudermilk)?

No it doesn't recognize. You can post it there then copy and paste the link (web address) here in this thread so we can all have a listen to what it sounded like. Sometimes triggers a memory.

Yes, and it definitely isn't that one. It wasn't an Eddie Cochran type of song. However, it has only just crossed my mind that the balcony referred to in the song may have been one at a theatre or cinema. At the time I interpreted it as a balcony you could climb out onto from a bedroom that overlooked the street, like the one we had at home when I was a child. I was always climbing out into it and hiding, and that was one of the reasons why the song registered with me so much at the time.

I will try this route with the other 2 songs I am searching for, because I know the exact tune of a particular piece in both those songs. However, in this case all I know is that one word "BALCONY" which came in the chorus and a recollection that the tune was fast and a bit like "Tracey" by the Cufflinks in its tempo, but no actual melody is in my head. It is stored somewhere up there of course, but it's just gone too far back and is totally out of reach.

    Maybe I should try hypnosis??
