So I thought I could start by introducing a music here it goes: vaca de fogo by Madredeus

the lyrics are as strange as the event they refer to: vaca de fogo - cow of fire, is part of an ancient traditional religious festival in the north of Portugal, where a man carries a cow of metal with fireworks that explode as he walks around the church square. It's obviously dangerous, but even though the people still do it today.

Hi Lissber, I believe that Madredeus is the most popular portuguese artist in Brasil, as much as Roberto Leal and Amália Rodrigues. It's wonderful. Well, I don't know if there's a similar group here in Brazil. I really can't say. I just know one famous and old lyric singer Bidu Sayão and I believe people have already heard this song in T.V

I was so lucky because the song was Алла Пугачева "Миллион Алых Роз" and I fell in love with the language and singer automatically. hi, your question is very important, because the word "putos" can easily lead to misunderstanding. The point is that when the word is written with an "a" - puta, and becomes feminine, is the insult you probably found in the dictionary, and it refers only to women.

If the word has an "o" - puto, putos, it refers to children, usually boys, but can also be girls. It a very common way of talking, we usually don't use it very often in written.

I'll put here another song with "putos"

"canalha" is an insult when used as an adjective, if someone says "tu és um canalha" it's insulting, but when used as a substantive it refers to the people, it's a synonym to "povo". Meaning povo, canalha, is not very often used in the cities, is, in a way, a old word, older people would use it.


fogem is the present from the verb fugir, it's an irregular verb
eu fujo, tu foges, ele foge, nós fugimos, vós fugis, eles fogem.

it means to run away
