Serbian /Croatian chit-chat off topic discussions

the thing with turbo-folk is, you either love it or hate it, there is no in between.

I think for foreigners there's an inbetween. I went from sort of liking it, to now mostly being indifferent to it. I still like some songs that my friend used to listen to when she was dating this one guy who liked turbofolk (this was back before I knew Serbian), so I still like those songs, the ones I learned to sing without knowing what I was saying, but I understand it now. But it's just a few songs really.

Hungarian has an equivalent I think of turbo folk. We take Hungarian folk songs and we put some sort of dumb techno beat to them and add a rap chorus and pretend we're cool. And I hate that stuff... except for one or two songs because the lyrics of those folk songs are really pretty... even with the lame Hungarian rap mixed in.

I will defenitely check out these bands! My friend also said to me that they are way better than the turbofolk that I listen to. lol
Because the lyrics are more beautiful he said. And the lyrics of most turbofolk songs are a bit weird.
But I don`t understand every word in Serbian and turbofolk sounds good (the beat) and that`s why I like it!

I agree - there are gray areas when it comes to folk music but not when it comes to turbo-folk.. then there's only a black area if you ask me lol

And yeah tedinkyyy, I'm actually rarely in the mood for the mushy ex-yu kind of stuff and Tiesto is simply ... magical!

what do u call "folk" and what" tufbofolk" ... I thought turbofolk is just the other name of folk.

turbofolk are bad copies of real folk with electronical music. (including mostly a girl half-nude as performer and horrible lyrics )
