Wow! I can't believe you're not going to Mexico in December! (Was I a part of that decision?) It makes me happy that I get to see you and maybe spend more time with you, but I also know how very important family is. Does this change anything for us? Now I can get you a gift for Christmas! I haven't heard this expression in Spanish before, but the colour 'blue' has a positive connotation, e.g. nature: blue skies, ocean, etc., also a symbol of protection, considered a soothing & calming colour, but it is also associated with depression, 'I am feeling blue' means 'I'm unhappy'. The sentence in question however, does sound positive, so I would translate it literally, but not sure that the expression would be equally meaningful in Spanish as is in English:

let life be wrapped in blue…let life be blue, let me put my hands in my pockets, may life be in my hands "

My lady, este azul en castellano no tiene esa connotación, no deja de ser el nombre del color, tratando de mantener el sentido que explicaste que tiene en cada caso, podría quedar algo como:

Deja que la vida se envuelva en "dicha"*, deja que la vida sea "bella "**, deja que ponga mis manos en mis bolsillos, y (poder) tener la vida en mis manos.

*Dicha también puede ir en este lugar: felicidad, júbilo, ventura

**En lugar de bella también podría ir: gozosa, agradable, deliciosa, alegre, preciosa, hermosa


Quizás así tiene un poquito más de sentido en español

1. Si Mares, tienes razón porque yo nunca escuché el 'azul' usado en Castellano como lo hacemos en Inglés, por eso pusé entre paréntesis el significado alternativo. Como lo escribiste tu ahora hace mejor sentido.

Tonight the game I was waiting to see (currently in progress) was the Chilean Fernando Gonzales play against the Spaniard Rafael Nadal, they are showing boxing instead, I'm mad! It would be fun to see Gonzales vs Del Potro in the finals!

Sí, a ese azul jamás lo oí en español. Ahora que lo pienso el tipo de música "blues" capaz que tenga ese nombre debido a la sensación de tristeza también (ya que las canciones de blues suelen ser más bien tristes), quién sabe. Pero seguro que en el español la palabra azul no tiene otro significado. Digamos no tiene sentido, así que para que la oración tenga sentido hay que buscar esas alternativas....

Me acabo de acordar de una frase nuestra:
"Entre la espada y la pared", que significa acorralado, sin salida...

La frase que en inglés tiene esa misma connotación es:
"Between the devil and the (deep) blue sea", en este caso tiene más sentido, porque califica al mar . Jejeje

Ponte a escuchar música linda o mira una película , ya que no puedes ver el partido . Yo estoy considerando seriamente la posibilidad de acostarme a dormir, tengo mucho frío para estar despierta .
