Hi everyone.
I went to college in 1995. My room mate had a cassette with Dance music on it.
The dance music type similar to Mr. Vein.
There was one song on there that has been my all time favorite but I don't remember the name
or the name of the group and I havn't heard it in a very long time.
For some reason I think the name of the song or the name of the group has either Tribe, Tribal,
Tibal People or something like that. There is a girl singing in the song and background vocals
of people saying "Hey ya hey ya hey ya hey ya hey ya"
It's not Enigma, or Tribe Called Quest or anything like that.
I made a sample on my keyboard of the rythm you can listen to. Just click on the picture and it'll take you to my photobucket.
The transformers are just fill eh!!!!
Please let me know if you can help me. It's racking my brain sumthin furious!!!
I thought that it was on a D.J. Line, or Various Artist cassette, but I have been mad searching
and nothing.
Thank you all soo much in advance.

Looking for song for 15 years.

Try this song...
2 Unlimited - Tribal Dance {1993}

Dan -
Nope, not anything from 2 unlimited.
Thanks though.
I've been on discogs searching for weeks. It's not by a popular artist I believe.
And, I've dug up a huge butt load of old stuff I used to listen to along the way.
The girl's voice who's singing in the song is on at least one other song that I've heard over the years and sounds similar to the one I'm looking for,
but I have absolutly NO clue to that song.
Also, my recording is almost exact to the rythm in the song. -
MAybe you should try SNAP

If it´s not that song, try other songs of them. They were popular at the same time as 2 Unlimited and Culture Beat (Mr Vain). When I remember right, they were 2 DJs composing songs and performing those with different singers. So someteims women are singing and sometimes men.
You could also try: Mr. president "coco Jambo"

I'm still looking on Youtube and Google.
A lot of people have made 90's dance compilations!! -
A friend of mine works at a radio station. He's looking through the archives for me which is awesome.
This is getting very frustrating.!! -
Still looking,, no progress though.

Still no progress. I am at wits end!

Have you thought about trying to contact your old roommate? There's a good chance he may have a Facebook or Myspace account.
Dan -
I would have guessed "Hey Ya!" by The Outkast but it came out in 2004.
So let's try the following wild guesses (ignoring your artist name hint):
"Hey Ya!" by Blondie
"Hey Ya!" by Avril Lavigne
"Shake Your Monkey" by Black Eyed Peas
"Hey Ya!" by Barbie
"Hey Ya!" by String
"Hey Ya!" by Suzy QLast edited by atmaestro; 01-27-2010 at 10:53 AM.
Them that can, do; them that can't... memorize Artist and Title -
Maybe this:
New Order - Blue Monday

There is also a song that Mr. Vain reminded me of:
Haddaway - what is love
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsCXZ...eature=related
Youtube also related this song to Mr. Vain
edit:
I wanted to delete New Order because it does not sound like Mr. Vein, but you never knowLast edited by dikzak; 01-27-2010 at 02:02 PM.

One Tribe 'what have you done'

If it's not that I'll keep looking. Can you remember any of the other songs that were on the tape? If so you can look them up and see what compilations they were on. The only song I can think of is Return to Innocence by Enigma and you said it isn't that one. Good luck.Last edited by liannalondon; 01-28-2010 at 06:42 AM.

Thanks for all the help.
I could contact my old room mate if I could remember his last name!!
Other songs on the tape like I mentioned the only one I "think" could have been on it was 'I wanna **** you in the ***' by Outhere brothers.
Other than that, I think I'm going to contact Chris Sheppherd! -
Dream Academy / Sunchyme
It's possible it is "Life in a Northern Town" originally by "The Dream Academy" but covered and remixed for dance by the group SunChyme.

I didn't read the entire thread, I just heard the sample on your keyboard...
It kinda sounds like dead or alive - "you spind me round"
but I guess that would be too easyif you play your cards right... everything's gonna be alright -
Thanks so much. I looked at every song and played a wack load of them and nothing.
-
Bob,
do you recall is there was a song called Whip That P***Y on that album?
