I would like to know who recorded the song that includes the following lyrics :-

I left it till the right night came
Caught in torrential rain
I made my way to the edge of the field
My dog at my heel
My bed was full
I started to run out of the woods
My dog was dead

I think the song is called The Poacher, it's probably from the 80s, male single and sort of an AOR type song
