That's interesting it's the first time that I heard that "eu lá quis saber" in a positive sense. Here in Brazil the pair "lá + saber" or similar constructions has in general negative meaning

Hi Algebra, I hadn't thought in that sense, but you're right: here in Brazil "sei lá" means 'I don't know'. But Deolinda seems to be Portuguese and I guess there in Portugal it's different. Not long ago, I read a book that uses Portuguese of Portugal - O Livro dos Hereges (by Aydano Roriz), which, by the way, I recommend - in which it's very common the use of expressions like "ó Pereira, eu cá prefiro não arriscar..." or "diz lá ó Casqueiro, quanto recebeste?". Anyway, I think that in case of this song the sense couldn't be negative, since she says that the deal was not to wait, but she wanted to know, then she waited.
